Ok guys, I know somtimes the Aston/ Bond association can be a little predictable, or even embarrassing. But honestly, who amongst you has not blushed or smirked when the comparison between you and 007 has been made?!

You may have noticed that today has been celebrated as Bond Day after his 50 long years of fictional serving of Queen & country. Have you marked the day? Will you take part in this year's celebrations - or are you bored of the whole Bond thing?

A couple of invites have arisen for us on this excuse so we will be meeting a group of AM owners at Castle Combe on the morning of 14th October for the onward trip to Beaulieu to the Bond exhibition (I expect many of you have already been). We've also bought tickets to a charity black tie film premiere evening of Skyfall the night before the official film launch(one of many around the UK I suspect) - my little boy (husband) couldn't be more excited!

OK so he's apparently driving a Bentley this time but it has to be said that the Bond association with our favourite brand has been a long and worthwhile one smile

Hi guys

Unfortunately I don't know the ETA for Beaulieu, all the info I have is the invite:

"Celebrate 50 Years of Bond
Aston Martin and James Bond have long held a special relationship. As this year marks the 50th Birthday of the James Bond franchise, we would like to invite you to celebrate one of Aston Martin’s most famous drivers in style by joining us at the Bond In Motion Exhibition - the largest official collection of original Bond vehicles the world has ever seen. There is only one condition…you must come in your Aston Martin!
The event is being held on Sunday 14th October at the Beaulieu Motoring Museum, but we ask you to meet us with other invited Aston Martin owners beforehand, at the Castle Combe Golf Club, to fill up on some bacon rolls, tea and coffee. We will then drive in convoy to the museum where you will be able to enjoy the Bond In Motion exhibition, Beaulieu Motor Museum, Beaulieu Abbey, World of Top Gear and the Palace House & Gardens.
Tickets cost £25 per person and covers all elements of the event. To book your place(s), reply to us at beaulieu@hrowen.co.uk with your vehicle registration number and name of your guest/s. You will then be contacted to confirm your place and to arrange payment."

We are looking forward to meeting more Astonauts there and wont be surprised if other dealerships are sending out similar invites. I know a lot of owners and/or AMOC members have already made this pilgrimage this year smile

A big big thanks to everyone at Broughtons HR Owen for organising!
+ 1 on the thanks to the organisers and nice to see you too Rob. Great news about your next car!

So pleased that the noise of our S was appreciated and good that you got to experience an S too. I'm pleased you appreciated the difference from the standard V8 - you have to try it to understand it and, trust me, once you get used to that gearbox it's an absolute joy!

See you at the 'premiere' next week - the excitement is building with so many great reviews appearing in the press!

You've got tickets to the premiere of Skyfall Molly? How did you manage that?!

I think the reviews that say its the best Bond ever are bks. Haven't seen it yet but there's no way it can live up to the early ones in terms of entertainment value imo.
See start of thread "A couple of invites have arisen for us on this excuse ............ There's always going to be massive hype going on around a new film but the reviews certainly seem to be very good this time. Not much point in comparing it to earlier Bond films (classic or otherwise) because most people have their favourites but often they have more to do with childhood memories that you can't expect to improve on!

Would now be a good time to mention that my cousin was a Bond girl in 'View to a Kill'? Not in the key role admittedly but one of the classic silhouette figures in the opening credits and a small role in the film. Not one of the best films I'm afraid but still will be a nice thing to tell her grandchildren one day!

Is this where I announce that I was in a Bond film???

As you are aware the 1997 'Tomorrow never dies' featured a number of Royal Navy warships. The fictitious HMS Chester, Devonshire and Bedford. The ships used were the real life Tyre 23 frigates HMS Somerset and Westminster for the exterior shots with the interior 'Operations Room' clips filmed in the simulators at HMS Dryad near Southwick village outside Portsmouth. The scenes were shot in early 1996 when I was a employed as an Instructor in the simulators so I made an excuse to be in the 'operations Room' when the filming took place. Although a fleeting glimpse I can tell it was me (Although my wife disputes it).

The best thing about the filming were the 'Crew Wagons' that provided the best mobile lunches you could ask for.....
It was sounding quite impressive 'til you told us your wife disputes it! rolleyes I wouldn't mention that bit when re-telling the story if I were you wink
