Any standard audio owners upgraded sound system?

My vantage has the standard sound system.
It's certainly good enough, but when certain songs come on through the iPod unit the speakers cannot handle the various frequencies and sound gets slightly distorted.

After having the denision iPod unit fitted a few weeks ago, I was quoted a couple of grand to get the premium sound system fitted (the 700W one).
Is there any other way (that has been tried by users here), that gives as good an output?

The chap who fitted my iPod unit said the necessary parts are £1900 alone!

Agreed. I think there are many standard audio owners out there who could benefit from a good upgrade to their juke boxes!

I know!
I did the same in my former DB7.
The sound was awesome as a result!

I'm not saying the sound from my standard V8V is bad. In fact it's quite alright.
But I want better. Much better!
But of course I need to consider the mounting cost! And ultimate resale will not change much with an aftermarket hifi. If anything it could (not definitely) hinder the sale. (Which is no where near consideration yet!)

Possibility of finding a banged up vantage with the upgrade? Purchase the necessaries?

Much less about power and loudness. Much more about clarity and tone.
