Dipping into the AM section for sage advice.

Just out looking at an Alfa 4C in a dealer when someone traded in a 2006 V8 Vantage for one. 79k on the clock, manual, FSH etc.

Dealer hasn't had it on the ramps yet but said it may need a new clutch.

What should I look out for on a high miler? Obviously at this mileage it should go to an Indy garage? Will be coming home with the 4C next week, but if it's a steal then will take both.

What could go wrong wink

Thoughts?

Car is over in Los Angeles, owner a very nice chap (proper petrolhead) from Ireland. Told me there's about 12-15k left on the clutch so if everything else looks good it will be a tasty if unexpected addition.

confused

Even a dealer can't tell.
Same owner since new (2006 car) so I assume he has been through a few and is just going by his previous usage?

It's on the original clutch at 79k miles, no signs of slipping either. Happy to replace the clutch but are there any upgrades worth looking at over the OEM clutch?

ETA: Twin plate organic clutch

Liking the black hardtop, better half insists on the spider (though was almost swayed when I demonstrated the fact the roof doesn't in fact open with a button press). Looking like a grey spider and, with luck, that Vantage to match.

Solid deal I think. Came out to 35k with small dealer margin and sorting out new tyres, registration (out of state car), new oil, detailing, prepped and ready for collection tomorrow etc. Still looks fairly new inside and out.

The 4C with the ideal spec (MUST have the 5 hole wheels on the spider, most came with the spider-only fan wheels) is out of state so will be shipped over this week.

Quite excited to blast hp and down PCh and the canyons in a Vantage I must say!

Great pair, I am thinking of adding a 4C to my Aston Vantage. A good compliment I think, lightweight, agile and stunning to look at.

Which one will be the daily driver - tough choice every morning...
Daily driver has two wheels hehe LA traffic is brutal for cars.

Dear god..

Vantage, manual, Pacific Coast Highway and perfect weather. Bumped into a few groups of drivers on the first day out giving it the beans, great fun!

Can feel a big difference between the 4.7 but the 4.3 is still a lot of fun on these roads and canyons.

Just got the car back with 200 cell cats installed (fuse still removed). An 8 week wait for Quicksilver to ship an exhaust from Blighty that was ultimately never sent has seen the car sitting in a garage not turning a wheel. A Cargraphic exhaust is going on over the weekend as compensation. Having taken it out now two days in a row, it's absolutely MENTAL.

My ONLY reservation now is that car is not only VERY loud but, IMHO, still very slow. The speed simply doesn't match the noise and thus feels very obnoxious. May stick the fuse back in and see how it compares. All hell now breaks loose at 2,000-2200rpm but the car isn't exactly sprinting away at this point so you start to feel like a bit of a nob.. It's just such a gorgeous looking piece of art regardless. It was on Rodeo Drive today for an hour and despite all sorts of exotica going by, the V8 still gets all the admiring looks.

New car coming in shortly which may leave the V8 fairly redundant for a while. Don't think I'd part with it just yet though as a manual in this condition can't be easy to find.

Good point! No valves = nothing to open and close. I believe this Cargraphic does, but I will double check on that in the morning. Didn't actually consider that at all, thanks!

ETA: What can I do to make this thing faster without going to crazy?
