Immediate disclaimer: I didn’t start this thread to complain about having to put petrol on a tank, or make social comment of why the heck the UK had a proper summer this year smashbiggrin

My previous 2014 V8V manual got up to around 24 MPG on the motorway at socially acceptable speeds. Officer. I was really impressed by this.

Now in my 2016 V8VS Sportshift, I was expecting a drop. Mainly ‘cos it just sounds angrier with the standard sports exhaust and AM secondary de-cat scratchchin

Today did a bit of a tedious motorway schlep. Around 200 miles on the two and three-laners probably averaging 65mph due to moderate traffic.

Result? 26.5 MPG, with the average still creeping up! OK - that’s 200 miles wasted on a Vantage (I added 50 country lane, paddle-heavy, miles at the end to bring the universe back into some balance...).

So the 7th gear must help economy. And in a lot of the tedious traffic it was in D, which was really smooth and brilliant.

What’s the best - and worse - seen in an AM?

Unable to help, sorry. No idea what the fuel consumption might be.

I enjoy my car so much that when it needs petrol, I just put more in the tank.
Very casual approach! wink

Do you worry whether it’s the green or black pump? biggrin

You are all wrong.
It’s smiles per gallon you should be quoting, not miles per gallon.
Without doubt! And obviously, there's a direct correlation between that MPG figure and grin width wink

N430 SS2, 27.22 best (256 miles through France, very gentle, speed limiter sitting next to me, 3 years ownership), 16.35 worst (short journeys, some 4 months into ownership). On average car's display is 4.7% optimistic. 20 years ago our petrol Discos were worse, rarely got over 17.
Yep - that's the sort of range I'm getting (for journeys of around 50 miles or more).

It's likely that very low mile examples will have a slightly higher MPG before being run in fully.

I coaxed 28.5mpg out of a V12 DB11 a couple of times, on a fairly short (30 mile) run, the highest I managed with the V8VS was 24mpg I think.
The Vanquish... 19.6mpg typically. During the 'acclimatisation phase' it went as low as 12mpg. Seems to be getting better with more miles on the clock.
Around 20mpg for a N/A V12 pumping out up to 600PS in S form. In my twisted reality, that's damn good! smile

avinalarf told me about an Aston Martin owner, who bought a brand new Vanquish S with every imaginable Q option.
It cost £350,000.

Anyway, he was so disappointed at only getting 17 miles per gallon, that he got rid of the car after only 3,0000 miles.
After that, he went away to university, for a BSc in WNI Studies. ( Which Numbers are most Important ).

wink
LOL! Exactly! biggrin
