Went to look at a car this week, registered end of sept 2016, serviced mid Oct 2017, but not serviced since, so no warranty as over 28 days allowance, what are the implications? What would you look to knock off price?

It’s aston Martin have told me any claims will be void, also they won’t in the future be able to take the car in p/ex because of the gap in the service history, whether it’s 2 months or 2 years it’s still a gap, I can take the car get it’s inspected and get an approved warranty for £1800 for 12 months, but the car will still have a gap in service history and I will be liable to be knocked down if I re sold it

I have tried two dealers and they have told me the same thing, AM are not very flexible with late servicing and warranty’s regardless of what Mileage between services there is. A 28 day grace from the due service date and failure to meet this will invalidate the warranty , date of warranty starts from the day the car was handed over, you can’t slow the period down because the car is not used or is in storage, I looked at a virage for sale at dove house, the car was taken in p/ex by jardine who were unable to sell it via one of their AM dealers due to a 36month service gap despite only covering 1500 miles in the 36 months, I will speak to works service tomorrow and find their opinion, I want the car but I need to know where I stand in case there is a problem which I can’t claim on.

Not a main dealer; I have the opinion of taking the car, getting serviced , having it checked it meets warranty standards , paying the £1800 and getting 12 months of warranty no issues, but AM will not take the car in the event of a future p/ ex because they can’t certify the service history due to the gap no mater how small

the crazy thing is the dealer has had the car since sept, he stated he would get the car serviced before hand over , it’s just hung around too long on now it’s late and now it might effect any future sale, AM timeless cars state that all the cars have had their service history certified, and I can’t see how they will certify any car which hadn’t been serviced in the required timespan , as it is I have offered £9k less on the car which was rejected, I have said I’m not in a rush so come back if he changes his mind

I will check with works service in the morning and see what they have to say on the matter. Car has only done 3200m since last service, dealer is probably going to rush it through a service now and hope no one notices

Have had email from AM stating that they will honour the warranty on everything but the engine and gear box as a result of the late service,
