I’ve been lusting after a V8V since they came out and tomorrow I get to pick up my new to me 2009 !

It involves a plane flight, 4.30am start and 350 mile, 7 hour drive back.

Weather looks absolutely bobbins - 45 mph winds and heavy rain. Not ideal, but I’m genned up on headlight and rear light dehumidifying for when I get back.

I’ve had various Maseratis, AMG Mercs etc. but this is one drive home I can’t wait for.

Pics etc to follow.

I do have a PH history since 2003, but after changing email addresses I lost all my history etc so starting afresh.

The car comes with 3 month warranty and is booked in to AML in Nov for a service and full check over.

Not sure I’ll sleep tonight....

Wish me luck !

Back home at last ! 360 miles through torrential rain, standing water on the motorway, 7hrs drive.

Pretty bushed but got to explore a few things.

Onyx black, grey interior, MANUAL !

It has exemplary service history. AML are an Indy in Macclesfield so looking forward to their report.

It’s on Pirelli SottoZero tyres which were perfect for the weather conditions.

More to follow...

Just keep that traction button switched on, because it is so easy to spin the rear wheels.
Ermmm - traction control button... ?

Will say one thing - it’s very easy to go from 70-90 without really noticing. That throttle pedal is very sensitive.

Quick pic after the rain stopped this morning

Needs a thoroughly good wash after the cross country jaunt yesterday.

I was going to upload another pic but it keeps saying “no image to upload”

Anyway, it has full Sports Pack, wheels are mint and with red callipers, so you can get an idea.

Usual light misting on the front headlights but rears are dry as a bone.

Found some options I didn’t know it had, lumbar adjustment, cruise control, USB and media interface and even garage door opener. Chuck in the DAB radio and upgraded sat nav and I’m not sure it could be any higher spec’d.

Which is nice

3 buttons under the rear view mirror. Very easy to set up.

We have electric gates and manual garage doors and they work fine with the gates.

Waiting for it to dry out before putting it in the garage. It’ll have to stay dirty until after the service in November and then I’ll put it away for the winter, all snug in it’s Aston Martin Vantage fitted car cover sleep

Nice, congrats!

If not used, the garage opener can be repurposed to control the exhaust valves with the CC Charger kit, could be interesting. I don't know the exact procedure has I don't have he opener on my N420 hence I use the CC Charger remote, but I am sure someone will fill in.
Genius ! There’s three buttons, so one can do the gates, the other two to do the CC exhaust.

Syncing is very easy, manual explains a bit better than I can.

Will have a chat with Clive and see what he thinks.

Cheers

Clive has confirmed that the CC Charger system works perfectly with the garage door opener under the rear view mirror.

As there are 3 buttons you can have one for the gates/garage door and use the other 2 for the CC Charger.

Happy days

Nearly 2 weeks in and so far I have been mostly doing the following...

1.) Nearside mirror removed and away for dipping and powder coating
2.) H&R 23mm rear spacers fitted
3.) Pollen filters replaced
4.) Air filters replaced
5.) Remote exhaust functionality programmed into rear view mirror buttons

It goes in for a service at AML Macclesfield next week and after that it’s thermostat replacement and a wash/wax before putting away until after Christmas.

Still can’t believe how good it looks every time I go into the garage...

Clean bill of health from AML Macclesfield - aside from new discs all round. Sourced some Brembos at a decent price so all good.

Last job before winter is to get the driver's door mirror arm exactly the same colour as the nearside, which I've just had fully refurbed and powder coated. Trouble is, the driver's side was replaced under warranty, shortly before I got the car and is in a slightly different shade of black/grey. It seems a shame to strip a perfect arm and therefore I've acquired a couple of spare arms which needed refurbing and will get the drivers side done.

That leaves me with a spare nearside which needs a refurb, a virtually perfect offside in original AM finish, two motors - 1 for each side and a pair of carbon door caps, which are not bad, but not perfect...

What to do with them... ?!
