I cant believe how high the dealers and some online genuine parts suppliers charge for some parts
For example
NGK coils are £12, genuine £100
Lambda sensor £40 genuine £200
Sparkplugs are outrageous
Brake pads and discs are at least double price
Loads of parts like service items are ridiculous.
Dont know what you all think but if i can get an equivalent item for less price i will as i try to get value for money
I just dont know how they can justify these prices.

Pity we can't get hold of the folder AM had in the factory with a list of all the parts that were taken from Ford/Volvo & Mazda.
Anyway here are all the parts I think you can get cheaper, this is based on an early DB9 -

2-pin Ignition coils are NGK U5031 and they can be brought for £12 each. (Identical but the rubber boots and springs just need changing over) - https://www.gsparkplug.com/1x-ngk-ignition-coil-u5...
PCV Valves are a Ford part EV152, roughly £10 each.
Lamda sensors, if you look on the NGK parts online site, the 4 sensors at the cats are -

The downstream ones are a different part number but are roughly the same price.
I get Mobil 0-40 oil from Opie oil for around £40 per 5 litres.

The Air filters are blue print £20 from ebay -

The side repeaters came from a Ford Transit van, they are identical apart from a tiny plastic piece thats inside which you don't see just needs trimming off with a stanley knife and it then fits perfectly.
The radiator from AM is about £850, I found the identical one for £700, this is manufactured by the same company who supply AM.
The brake discs can be brought cheaper getting Brembo discs, plus the pads, you can get EBC Yellow stuff for £280 front and rear, and the handbrake pads from EBC are only £30.
The wheel bearings can be sourced for around £180 each - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/First-Line-Wheel-Bearin...
The window wipers are standard Bosch fitment, nothing special there.
So when you look at the above prices of these parts and bear in mind there is already a mark up and profit on these prices it just goes to show how completely ripped off we are getting when ordering the genuine AM part.
Can't think of anything else but if I think of anything i'll let you know, please feel free to add your own.

So let's assume they drop the price as suggested to $1000 - and sell many more as suggested. What happens when those bonnets have all been sold - many manufacturers have a charter that spares will be available for a set number of years after production ends, if no bonnet is available does every front end damaged car get written off (same problem you are trying to solve isn't it?)
AM would then need to be asked to get the manufacturer of said bonnets to run a batch of bonnets on tooling that hopefully has not been destroyed or damaged in storage - and will need a minimum volume - I beleive small batch production is much more expensive than large volume - so you now have to increase the buy price to say $1000 to AM - so the customer price is back up to $2000
What has been achieved apart from a few people get cheap bonnets - and the procurement and operations team get indigestion at AM for a while.
I have few vehicles where parts are no longer available and the manufacturer isn't interested, and 3rd party manufacturers aren't either as the market is so limited.

My point is the parts which are identical to the mass produced parts for Ford/Volvo ect, there is NO NEED to sell them for hugely inflated costs, AM parts dept simply put them in a new plastic bag with an AM label on it!!!

Looking into the exhaust mount rubbers, there are 6 for a DB9, from Aston they are £30 each inc VAT,
They are a Jaguar/Land Rover part - WCS000150 - £10 each.

All you need to do is the fit the original springs and boots from your old coils, no probs. NGK plugs are cheap also.The expensive parts are the 2 gaskets, I do recommend changing those, also remove the throttle bodies and give them a clean with two new rubber o-rings.
I would replace the PCV valves and the injector o-rings.
