Larini or Capristo exhaust?
Discussion
I’ve finally decided to bite the bullet and swap out my Quicksilver Supersports exhaust back box which is basically a straight through box with no sound deadening and is just anti-socially loud.
I’ve been considering Larini and Capristo as they both do a valved switchable backbox similar to the std AM offering but having no experience of either manufacturers products I wondered if anyone here could comment? Especially as the Capristo is nearly twice the price of the Larini one.

Thanks Jon,
my car is a V12 (DBS) with secondary cats removed. I’m not really looking for power gains and (unusually) I’m trying to make my car quieter so those videos don’t really help as they’ve filmed inside a workshop to make the sound more echoey.
I’ve been in touch with both manufacturers and they seem to be focusing on an increase in sound. Bizarrely neither of them could give me db readings for with and without valves open which would’ve been useful.
It’s not a case of money being no option as an extra £2k is still £2k but if it’s worth the extra I’ll pay it, the Capristo certainly looks a nicer made product but I have no first hand knowledge of either brand.

Does a gen 2 vanquish exhaust fit a DBS? As I might do a swap, does your quicksilver have valves?
I don’t know if it does? No it doesn’t have valves. BiggaJ said:
Interesting, have you thought to go back to the stock back box as fitted by AM when your car was new?
I can’t find a used one and a new one is nearly £3k and twice the weight of both the aftermarket onesAdamV12V said:
I dunno if it would fit but I will be selling my OEM V12VS exhaust with valves soon, in great condition. Drop me a PM if your interested (and have figured out it fits a DBS).
I’ll drop you a PMEdited by 4Q on Thursday 3rd June 16:36

This is not spectacularly helpful, but I have the Capristo system on my V12V, and there is not a single thing about it I would change.
Acceptable whilst cruising, and properly epic when on full chat.

South Herts, if you want to come and hear it in the flesh.
That is really helpful, thanks Dave. What’s it like on start up with the valves closed? Acceptable whilst cruising, and properly epic when on full chat.

Excited to hear this, please provide videos!
Will do, I have a sound meter at work somewhere so will take some dB readings along with the video. Most videos show them being revved up in a garage or workshop which doesn’t give a true representation of how it will sound in the real world. AstonV said:
Nice choice.
Thanks Andy, I see that you have the Larini already. I went for the Capristo in the end because of the variable switching of the valves and that I can programme it to suit when I want it to be quieter

That looks lovely Steve, but how does es it sound in both quiet and loud settings?
And did you get chance to get the decibel's measured?
I haven’t measured this one yet as I haven’t set up the remote because I ran out of time on the day. It’s still using the standard AM set up to control the valves so I don’t know if they are fully opening but its much quieter. It has a slightly deeper richer sound now whereas the old one reminded me of a Merlin engined Spitfire. And did you get chance to get the decibel's measured?
The old one which was pretty much a straight through box, spiked at 103dB on start up settling to high 90’s on tickover and 109dB at 3000rpm with the sound meter approx 1.5m away at 45 degrees. It was louder at 6000rpm but the guy taking the measurement didn’t write it down and couldn’t remember if it was 113dB or 116dB.
