I’m a few weeks into 4.3 v8v ownership after looking for a while. Sold my v6 F type coupe and MGB roadster and decided a manual Vantage Roadster would combine the best attributes of both these cars. I probably looked at 10 vantages before finding the right one. Most had various amounts of alloy corrosion bubbles under the paint or evidence of lack of care. I prefer the look of the coupe but opening the roof just makes it another experience altogether, the sound of the exhaust is just incredible! I’m an engineer so not afraid of working on this car. I’ve already replaced the door struts and serpentine belt. Not sure whether to diy service going fwd or pay silly amounts for the dealer stamp in the book. I’ve always found a comprehensive folder full receipts proving service has not devalued my previous cars. Still considering that one. For now just hoping for some good weather to get that roof down!

Wahey!!! Lovely motor, many congratulations. You are now stuck with it forever biggrin

Cant quite tell but is that paint Mercury Silver? Mine is and it’s a lovely and quite rare shade of grey with a hint of olive green in it...... one of the launch colours no less I think smile

Enjoy

P.s to add I’m no engineer but these are so simple to work on, generally speaking. Do it yourself if you want and just keep the parts receipts/photos of work/handwritten notebook of work done - I’ve done various bits from brakes to interior and there’s a (mine) caring owner’s notes detailing everything should I ever have to sell smile

Yes it’s Mercury, with Phantom/Falcon grey interior. I haven’t seen another with that combo. Not my first choice tbh, my Jag was BRG over tan and looked stunning. The multiple shades of grey of the Aston are a bit boring in comparison. I did look at a lovely dark Blue one at Mcgurks but couldn’t stretch to the price. Still I have no regrets, when I open the garage door I have to pinch myself that I own an Aston Martin!

The FType has more tech and creature comfort’s, it’s certainly faster. I would say the handling is on par. I really loved mine but I can see the brand going the same way as MG/Rover as all the investment seems to be going into Landrover. I wanted out before values tanked. The Aston is no doubt higher quality, better materials and feels a lot more special. Every drive is more of an event.
