I'm looking to get an V8 Vantage and have seen this company advertising at big discounts to new car prices (£10k off the convertible and £12.5k off the coupe).

Has anyone bought a new car from them, or know anyone who has?
It sounds too good to be true, so probably is.

I was actually going to wait for a while (next year) until I get one because I am a little concerned about reliability (I have a Porsche now and it has never had any problems) and depreciation (so I was thinking of getting a 2006 car in 2008). However, seeing this Ad made me think about getting a new one because, at 10k off, its a good deal.

I talked to this company yesterday and they basically set up a deal between the buyer and Aston Martin Switzerland. So the car is built in the UK, tranported to Switzerland, then transported back to the UK !

I have since been to the Swiss website and the prices are shown in this PDF: www.astonmartin.ch/pdf/preisliste_v8vantage.pdf

£67k for the coupe and £74k for the roadster!
You can also (via the car configurator) specify it in RHD.
I may now look into what is involved in importing a car into the UK from Swtzerland myself. With a roadster for £74k, instead of £91k from the UK, a bit of hassle may be well rewarded.

FYI - I have since been in touch (by email) with a guy fom AM Switzerland, who told me the price is £60k (tax free) from them, plus VAT (no duty) when its imported into the UK. That makes £70.5k for a new AMV8 (with no extras) if you 'do it yourself) or £71.75k if 'Car Advisers' do it for you. That implies 'Car Advisers' are making £1250 for organising the whole thing, which seems reasonable.
I dont know about you guys, but I'm not so rich that I dont care about depreciation or saving money. This is part of the email from AM Switzerland. "The answer to your question is yes, we are able to supply cars in UK specification. The car does however physically need to come to Switzerland and then can be transported or driven back to the UK. We have done this a few times in the past so are used to all the paperwork that needs to be carried out and we can prepare this for you. We generally register the car on Swiss tax free plates which enables you to drive the car in the UK until you get your British registration sorted. The start price for the Vantage Coupe with manual transmission is CHF. 146'200.00. These prices are tax free. In order to specify the car, (colours & options) we are able to organise a tour at the Aston Martin factory in Gaydon. A few of our customers have done this procedure themselves and all has run smoothly."

I would have thought that non uk-spec (rather than non uk dealer) are the cars that may go for less. I mean, these cars are built in the UK, for the UK - its just they got delivered via Switzerland! In any event, if I decide to buy a new one, rather than used, this is definitely what I will be doing. As I said before, what puts me off a new one is the eye watering depreciation. If I won the lottery however, I'd have 2 new cars (the coupe and convertible).

The guys name is Jonathan Hartop, email j.hartop@garage-keller.ch, or use the 'Contact Us' button at the AM Switzerland website. FYI he also invited me to drive the Roadster they expect to have in 2 weeks time, but I said the one I'm going to drive in the UK is much closer!
