This weeks Autocar Steve Sutcliffe's column (page 19) captures much of what I feel about my V8 (especially the obsessed about the car, part). Many of these hacks get a car for 24 hours test is and then pass it on, I really think this is not enough time to form a proper opinion. I have read many times, (Old Focus RS, New TTRS, DBS and others) "when I first tried the car I did not like xyz, but now I have had a proper drive/long term test etc, that I now understand and enjoy the car". Steve owns up to this, and I totally agree with him. Borrowing one for a fortnight "allows you to interact with the car and get to know it in a way that difficult, if not impossible, to achieve in just a day. It allows you to immerse yourself in the ownership experience and, hopefully, to understand the subject matter on a level that is not always obvious in a road test."

It’s well worth a read.

One thing that has surprised me is how much the British public like to see an Aston on the roads, we should get free road tax for providing a civic duty of imparting a feel good factor for the general public biggrin
I have always thought that. smile

Parked the V8 up next to my mates shouty 430 Scud in Poole Quay the other weekend and sat down at the pub watching the public walk past. The V8 easily got as much attention (from the general non PH public admittedly) as the 'twice the price and some' Scud..
