Well as my V8V approaches its first birthday the insurance renewal came in yesterday and what a massive rise (no claims, nothings changed during the year). I gather from press articles that motor insurance generally is going up because of all the no win no fee cases and fraud. Anyway, whatever the reason my premium went up from about £540 to £970 (Admiral multi car, each of the cars has gone up significantly).
So, settling into the long task of checking around other providers online (for all four cars) just wondering if anybody has any recommendations for Aston insurance - many of the larger companies won't quote for this class of car sadly. I'm getting quotes varying from that up to £1900 at present, I appreciate all sorts of factors come into account when they calculate the "risk", but maybe somebody has fouund a "gem" that are better than others?

ok quick update for comparisons although i appreciate everybody is different:
over 50, good job, SDP only, 3000 miles AM tracker, wife as second driver, 14 yrs NCD, no accidents convictions conditions etc. MY 2010 V8V.
Admiral have actually quoted less as a single car than there latest quote on their multicar policy so sounds like some kind of second year rip off there.
Post office £1099
Adrian Flux £1900
Elephant - site down
Aviva wouldn't quote any car over £75k online so need to ring them.
haven't done the rest yet but happy for more suggestions!

thanks eveybody for suggestions, I got sorted - admiral again multicar got the V8V dropped to £580 for me, wife, PNCD, business use, that was a £400 reduction - also managed to get other 3 cars significantly reduced too. Basically their call centre told me to reaccess the multicar website and they would meet what it said.

Jobs a good un, appeciate your input. smile

I'm on my second stint with admiral multiple car. Have 5 cars on now, the v8v, merc clk, BMW z4, astra Vxr and another z4 3.0. The first year was a tremendous quote but when it came in for renewal it had risen drastically. I managed to get their site to requote me as a new customer which was significantly less and when I told their renewal section they gave me th renewal at that price.

From my perpspective I would have preferred it if they treat existing customers like their new customers. The insurance world seems a strange place to me because they must be paying for a lot of churn I guess rather than keeping existing customer happy which is much cheaper to do in my humble opinion.

Anyway, the annual cost for all 5 cars was untouchable by anybody else, fingers crossed for this year too!

My renewal with admiral multicar was double the first year premium. I went back on their site as a new customer using mrs Steve as the policy holder and all four cars were then quoted as they had been on the first year (ie half the renewal quote presumably because it was interpreting her as a new customer). Needless to say I signed up online again with her as the policy holder.

This year I'll try the same again with me as polcy holder or if that doesn't work then my son.

For those who lare looking at insurance or it os on your wallets horizon, Quick update for the fast approaching third year of my V8v's life and consequential hunt for insurance. The quote from Admiral for renewal of my multi car policy was significantly less than insuring the four cars individually. In particular the Aston was nearly half the next quotation, having looked at the names listed in the various posts above.

Some wouldn't quote for a car over £50,000 in value, some wouldn't quote because it's mainly on the drive or I use it for business use. Anyway, Admiral again for me for third year running! Worked out as big savings for everybody else in my family too, so keeps them all smiling.
