Well I have got an RX8 coming,

This is no barry boy model lol.

End of the day I have had some “reliable” cars that have ended up costing a fortune BMW E46 330 needed a new auto box rebuild after 100k for example.

Every car is a risk, so I may as well have sweet looks to go with it.

Well I have got one!

2004 RX8, 2 owners, 51k.

Full Mazda SH, coils and plugs done at 25k and 50k, upgraded starter motor on it.

Mint condition inside and out, not even a mark on an alloy.

All I can say is what a car to drive!

Cheers Ali T,

All I can say is I am really impressed with the RX8 and the handling is exceptional.

It feels well build, better that a 04 Impreza WRX I had.

Yes true, but if and when the RX8 engine does fail 2K and I have a warranted rebuild lump in it.

Thanks Ali, always good to hear the positives.

It was a bit twitchy in the wet this morning.

Bridgestone Potenza,

They are about 40 / 50% worn at very most, felt ok on the straights and semi ok on the twists but when coming out of junctions without much acceleration it nearly went a couple of times.

I have had RWD cars before just felt a bit more twitchy.

Just been and looked EO40RZ all round.

What makes do you suggest are a good option for general all round ability, that are not mental money lol.

good to know stability control kicks in when needed.

Cheers, I thought they were OEM tyres given that my friend just brought a new Mazda 6 with Potenza's on.

I will just take it easy with the miles I am doing they will need changing come MOT time in Feb.

We having owned both now, and after a couple of weeks having the RX8 I can confirm this.

My 93 TID sport, brilliant economy and I do miss that, it handled really very well TBH.

95 aero, it was very quick, not just off the mark but its over taking power was brilliant, and I do miss that delivery for over taking but the 93 was more confident in the corners as the 95 was a bit of a barge.

RX8, different car and different league of cars but after 2 weeks, the handling is the best I have ever had, RWD is twitchy in the wet but as discussed it is down to the tyres, but the stability control is very good. Power, it has plenty and I have not found that having little torque has any adverse effect when you can just keep revving it. It has also proved practical, my 1yr old daughter goes in, her large pram, and all the other bit we have to cart about plus I am averaging 25mpg.
