No, you have not accidentally clicked on a link for Mumsnet, this is a thread for the Nissan Qashqai on PistonHeads! hehe

The reason for me starting this thread is that I've just bought (well, leased) one and thought surely I can't be the only person on here who has done so! I've not got it yet (should arrive in May), but it's an Ink Blue 1.2 DIG-T Tekna. This means it's petrol, manual, FWD and the top spec. I had a quick test drive in one as the idea of a moderately-sized car with a 1.2-litre engine sounded awful, but it was actually fine. The Tekna trim level comes with loads of cool gadgets that I will never use can't wait to try, although the idea of 19" wheels fills me with dread. Hopefully the ride won't be too much harsher than the one on 17"s that I test drove.

The car is for my wife to replace her R56 MINI Cooper S, so it will be a big step down in performance terms, but a massive jump in the practicality stakes! I'll post some pictures and thoughts when it turns up. Has anyone else got a Mk2 Qashqai then? Ours should look very much like this:

The 1.2 turbo engine wasn't too bad actually. Nissan claim it's both more economical and more powerful than the unit it replaces in the old model, which was an N/A 1.6. Granted, it still looks weird reading it has an engine that small! I'll be interested to try it when loaded with five people and luggage, when I reckon it may struggle slightly, but otherwise it makes sense for how we will use the car.

Wow, thanks for the really informative reply! Incredibly detailed and has been more use than many of the proper reviews!

I've not driven the diesel, but it's without a doubt more economical and the torque would likely make it the de facto choice if you frequently have a full car or tow etc. That said, petrols are almost always more fun (and refined!) than diesels, so am happy with my choice.

I went for the Tekna because the monthly lease price wasn't that much different to the Acenta Premium, but if I were stumping up the difference in cash then I'm not so sure I'd have been so keen! The thing that really swung it was that the Tekna comes standard with bi-LED headlamps, whereas all of the lower models are stuck with halogens. Coming from the excellent bi-xenons of her MINI, my wife wasn't keen to take a step back in terms of lighting performance! I also very much like heated seats. biggrin

Thanks for the replies so far smile Looks like a test drive is in order to see what they both drive like. Headline lease prices look quite good - if you're happy with 'standard' red paint but metallic seems to add £25 a month which is a bit off - normally metallic is only slightly more as it add to the residual value.
Anyone care to share the deal they've been able to achieve?
Who's that with? Mine is on a 3+35 lease for £299 per month from mental Ling. 12k miles per year. 1.2 DIG-T Tekna with metallic paint.

We've now arranged to collect ours on Friday woohoo

Ours is on a PCP, so won't bore you with the figures. I'm a bit surprised by the lead-times being quoted, ordered ours on March 23rd and it's at the dealer now - we could have it a bit sooner but Friday suits us best.
Fantastic! Post up some pictures when you have it! I think Teknas have longer lead times than the other trim levels for some reason, so perhaps that's why yours has arrived so quickly! That's good going! thumbup

Well, my Qashqai is due to be delivered to the dealer tomorrow. biggrin

As part of the lease deal, the car is supposed to be delivered, but this can take up to ten working days from the point at which it arrives to the dealer. I'm bloody desperate for the thing as my Wife's old car has now been sold, so we're left with just my MINI, which, seeing as we're due a baby at pretty much any moment, isn't much use as there are too few seats for a start! I'm in the process of finding out whether I can collect it from the dealer to save time, so fingers crossed you'll see pictures of my new car on this thread soon! I'm going to be in big trouble if we don't have a car to take the baby home from the hospital in. eekhehe

That's disappointing. What lead times were you quoted?
It actually arrived at the dealer two days earlier than expected (ordered in mid-March, originally quoted May 30th due to dealer), but as my car is leased, it gets delivered and there's a wait for that. frown

It's arrived! Absolutely thrilled with it, to be honest. It's well-made, comfortable, looks pretty good and is every bit as quick as you'd want it to be! Only driven it a little so far, but here's a couple of pictures (excuse the location - I needed a tax disc holder from Halfords!).
