GT86 recommended tyre pressure seems very high

Is anyone else surprised by the high factory tyre pressures on this car (35 psi front and rear)? For a light car this is higher than most.

Is this because it comes with the slippery and fun economy tyres from the factory? Maybe this tyre has naturally quite flexible side walls, so a high pressure is recommended to stiffen it up?

If you are running a sporting tyre do you think a lower pressure would be wise to consider? I believe I'm right in saying a sporting tyre will usually have a stiffer sidewall. So a lower pressure seems allowable unless I'm missing something.
