All of a sudden my £300 shed has lost power on uphills.

As soon as you get to a hill it doesn't rev above 2k , drop it into 2nd with your foot flat down and it just crawls along.

There is oil in it , don't think it's clutch because then the revs would rise but the car wouldn't go any faster so what's my next culprit ? compression test?

It's the 1.8 petrol engine.

Collapsed cat. converter sounds expensive I'd probably just sell the car on with the fault.

First port of call is try disconnecting the MAF (air flow meter) and see how it goes from there.
cam chain doesn't rattle though , i thought when stretched they rattled?
