Toyota MR2 Running Problem

Hello,

I have a MK2 MR2 and have had some problems with the car.

It cut out and failed to start a week ago. It was diagnosed as a fuel blockage so I replaced the filter which then made it run.

The car worked fine lower down the rev range but it wouldn't rev above 4k. I replaced the spark plugs which looked like they had seen better days.

This still hasn't fixed the problem. About 12k miles ago it had a new rotor arm, distributor cap and HT leads.

10k miles ago the cambelt, waterpump and tensioners were changed.

Any suggestions?

Nothing stored on the diagnostic.

I've checked the variable inlet. The butterflies operate fine when revving it
