Mrs got a brand new Qashqai under 2 months ago, its done 1.5k miles now and the scuttle panel on the front windscreen is coming a way from it, currently there is 10cm run with a gap of 1-2cm from the bottom of the front screen, I'm concerned about rain water getting in. I rang a couple of Nissan dealers thinking it would be easy to get it in to be looked at and for investigation work required for warranty claims but was quoted 5 weeks wait to be looked at. This is the first time in 3 cars and many years I've had to make a warranty claim, is this standard practice now that warranty investigation work has long lead times ?

Anyone else with a Qashqai (who will admit it lol) that has the same issue with the scuttle panel ? I fear Nissan may say its been the hot weather but they sell these things in a lot hotter countries so I wont accept that.

The scuttle panel on 99.9% of cars does not seal the interior from water ingress. That's what the windscreen seal/sealant is for. So don't worry about that.

Just get it booked in, but make sure they will give you a courtesy car while it is being looked at. If they can't look at it for 5 weeks and in the unlikely event that anything goes wrong with the car due the problem not being looked at quick enough that isn't your fault. Sounds like the part has been fitted incorrectly which has lead to it starting to detach, or it is a faulty part.

And please don't say "misses". It's clearly Mrs.
Thanks corrected.

I don't personally have anything against the Qashqai nor do I know much about them however, I am trying to find a thread on here from last week that was a chap with a failed clutch complaining about the warranty process. They didn't do very well in the recent JD power survey either on reliability nor build quality. I wonder if Nissan have a lot of claims to process hence the turnaround?
I agree quality seems very poor, we are leasing the car as we got a good a very good deal but I really worried now what state it will be in when we hand it back as it seems very fragile, a few things I have already noticed are,

1. Drivers side seat belt seems to fitted oddly or wrong way around even, I guess its just an odd fitting as it couldn't have got past the PDI if it was wrongly fitted I guess.

2. Interior plastics at front seem very, very fragile, seems any kind of minor contact will scuff or scratch it.

3. Driver side seat belt again you have to make sure you manually feed the belt back slowly and carefully or the buckle scuffs the plastic on the pillar.

4. For some reason after opening the petrol flap to fill it and locking the door it will beep for 20 seconds only way I can seem to sort it is by opening and shutting the bonnet.

5. Seat cushion material seem low quality, indents easily and won't return to shape.

6. Paint work very thin.

7. Rumbling from right drivers side in 2nd on acceleration.

8. Windows rubbers in rear that are visible from inside are distorted on both sides, seems its supposed to be like that.

I know its a mass produced car but I naively thought in this day and age all cars were of a good quality, Mrs had an Insignia before this seemed a lot better built and better materials.

Thanks to the other poster on the info on the scuttle panel, at least its nothing to worry about.

cheers

In its defence nothing else has broken on it in since the scuttle panel was fixed and after making a fuss Nissan got the dealer to replace the panel within 10 days of contacting them and while I waited so a good result.

The other issues I've just learnt to live with now, we have done 3k miles in it and I'm sort of liking it a bit now, annoying rattle has appeared in passenger side though. Would never guess its 1.2T, did a 200 mile trip in last week with 4 up and luggage and it was fine, stick to 4th gear to accelerate on motorways and its fast enough and cruises ok, got an indicated 47mpg on that trip, was 70-85mph most the way.
