Mitsubishi GTO HELP

Been looking into getting a GTO. Non turbo manual for under £3000, and there are some good examples around. But noticed the auto is half the price, I've heard the auto has problems so is it that difficult to convert it to a manual or does it work out more expensive in the long run. Any help is much appreciated thanks.

So by the time I've bought the £1500 GTO auto and converted it it'll end being more expensive than the £3000 manual GTO. Right
