Here's an idea... How about a thread dedicated to Japanese track cars. Show us your photos. I've wanted a track car myself for some time and currently thinking of getting something Japanese as I've always been a fan of the Nissan's (especially R32 Skylines) Honda's, Toyota's, Mazda's etc. So everyone post your pictures of your Japanese track beasts.

Mine isn't a 'track car' per se, however I have done some trackdays in it

At Bedford

At Brands

To me the essence of trackdaying isn't lap times per se, but enjoying the challenge of balancing the car through the corner with steering, brakes and power. The RX-7 is really good at this, it's very throttle-responsive and resists understeer, it always responds to your inputs even at the limit. Also the RS brakes, with top notch pads and fluid, hold up well. It also has a good turn of speed, and isn't too heavy.

So personally I lean towards cars that are lighter and RWD for track use. Other cars similar to the FD would be the S2000 and SW20 MR2 Turbo I guess. The MX-5 and W30 MR2 are lighter, but lack power. What I'd really like would be a Tommy Kaira ZZ or Vemac RD180, but even if one did find such a unicorn, would you risk it on track?
That's nice mate i do love the RX-7 more so than the RX-8. Vemac RD180 is that the Lotus Elise looking type things?

Rust in pieces Lionel

Love that. Looks like it's really served it's purpose of being a raw track car.
