Hi all,

Firsly sorry this isnt in the susp and brakes bit, it didnt seem that busy. its more MR2 than ne thing else :)

My car is currently in being serviced and MOT'd, the mechanic went to finish off and was fitting all the wheels back on las nyt and realied that the front drivers side supension was in bad way. The Nuts which tighten upto the spring to adjust the suspension have corroded and are not good. This is obviously not a good thing. Now ive neva got involvd in suspension before, and to be honest wasnt aware of the benefits the adjustable suspension gave, if used. It was on the car when i got it and i never knew.

So i looks online, only to realise the price of this dam suspension kit on the car!!! now i dont know what kit it is, but its made by Tein and it is certinally adjustable.

So, can i get replacement nuts that replace these knackered ones cos im not happy if this whole setup needs to be replaced.

Thanks and please reply with some advise, learning more about how these dam cars work would be a good start.

hell no!!!! Jeeeyyyysssus man!!

no, i just need to know if ne one has had to replace em and where you got them from, the mechanic seems to think we could be talking a 6week delivery direct from tein, dunno were he got this from, but he was talking to a local jap specialist about it.

just spoke to my mechanic he said that its a 'sports spec' type HR drving master kit. Does this mean anything to anyone?

Thanks again

phone? sorry mate u lost me.

Yea he said that the adjustable nuts which are used to lower and raise the spring have corroded but only on the f/o/s corner. dunno whats caused it, but its happening. Hes talking about getting an engineer to fabricate a couple of new ones. im thinking this could also prove expencive on the already painful 300quid service, and mot bill!!!

cheers

yea that seems the most sensible option mate, there are 2nuts which lock each other into place, and this holds the spring at the right height, i can oly describe them as looking like the top of a castle with gaps spaced in them, rather than proper nut. But the thread pattern must match other stuff i would have thought. I will see what he comes up with tomorrow, and i will call tein uk, they must hav had this before.

Cheers Gaz, if ne one else has had this happen and the nut corrode away, please Shout!

thanks
