Saw a road legal J reg Mazda MX-5 1.6 turbo racing at Oulton today, making a lot of things look very very silly indeed. How much would one of those cost then? Just out of interest you understand

I have a similar setup to Ben's but mine's a 1.8 pushing out 250 odd BHP. As Ben says they're great fun - the best thing about it for me is that no-one expects a seriously quick MX-5. Performance wise I've been neck and neck with both a 911 and an F355 from 40-100+ Getting there is not exactly cheap as you get what you pay for and there's always something else to tweak / change / polish but it's still cheap performance compared to the big guns.

Where abouts are you in the North West, The DJ? I'm in that neck of the woods myself and I'd be happy to show you what the car can do. Drop me a mail through my profile if you like.

Cheers

Phil.

Thats with standard pistons? Nice engine that is. I think I'll go and see Paul Sheard in Congleton this week at some point to get an idea of costs etc. Some good links in this thread people, thanks.

Yeah I'll take you up on that when I can actually afford one. Probably be October/November anyway, so the prices will have gone back down. Wouldn't dream of buying a sports car now! I'll certainly have a look though.
