hello guys, if you have arrived here because you are searching for Bmwland , I'm afraid it no longer exists, due to the tragic circumstances explained within this thread
However a new site Bmwlander has been created in what many of us believe is a fitting tribute to Bmwland. Would be great to see you all there,

Do you know the fellow involved?
No, not personally.
Matt's obviously been a key presence on the Land for years. It's been an excellent resource and a pleasant community.
The forum seemed to stop working properly a few days ago. When you clicked a link, it froze and the screen was blank. When the 'database maintenance' message appeared, I assumed that the forum had been hacked or something and was being sorted out.
The above news has come as a bit of a shock if I'm honest.
Yeah, I saw this terrible news on the BMWLand Facebook page earlier in the week - Olli and Brocky announced the news.
Looks like Matt was the only one with the server passwords so the Mods can't do anything at this stage. Would be a shame if BMWLand died with him since it's a great legacy; the community that Matt created there.
But obviously at this stage thoughts are with his family and friends.
Puts things into perspective (and also shows me how much time I spent on there, given I'm feeling a little lost without it!).

Part of me thinks we should be organising a meet or something in Matt's honour. Clearly no way of gauging how his family feels about this, but feel it would be a fitting tribute to him.
BMWLand was a relatively tight-knit community amongst its core supporters and we were only so because of Matt's forum. I can't help but think it would be good for us to organise something to show how much we appreciated what he did for the community.
What are other people's thoughts and is anyone in touch with any of the Mods who knew him personally or may be liasing with his family? Clearly, if the family want to grieve in peace, that's understandable but remember a really big and overwhelming support for the family of a chap who sadly passed too early on S2ki UK a few years back and was a big comfort to his family.
I'd love to help keep BMWLand alive in Matt's memory but sadly have no IT skills but happy to be called upon for anything else which could be done.
