Well that's annoying.
I now need a new front tyre on my 340i due to a Gloucestershire Highways pothole.

So, rather than spend £200+ on a replacement Bridgestone RFT I'm going to eBay the remaining three (only done 2k miles!) and get a full set of matching non-RFT.

The question is, what can I get as a matching set in stock sizes?
Not a lot around in 225/40R19 and 255/35R19.

GY Asym 2, Vred Ultrac Vorti, Mich PSS... any others?

I wanted to try the GY Asym 3 but they're only available in the rear size, and I'm loathe to mismatch front and rear axles (other than the stagger obviously).
Anyone tried the new PS4S?
Or is anyone running Contis?

There are loads of options for those sizes - have a look at Black Circles or any of the other online companies.
I have, but there aren't loads of options for matching sets. For example I can't get Goodyear Asymmetrics in the front size, but they do Asym 2 and Asym 3 in the rear size.
Just curious as to what other people are using and what their experiences are.

Pirelli P Zero Nero, Yokohama Advan Sport V105S, Goodyear Eagle F1 As 2, Continental Sport Contact 3/5 SSR/6, Michelin Pilot Sport 3/4/SS, Verdenstein Ultrac Vorti, Bridgestone Potenza S001, Falken Azensis FK-453....take your pick
Most of the above seem to only be available in either the front or rear size, apart from the Vreds and the runflat S001.
The limiting factor seems to be the front; 225/40R19.
It's a pain!!
Must see if I can fit 235/40, that certainly opens up the options.

It will fit fine, as standard there's loads of clearance, highly doubt 10mm wider tyres will cause an issue.
Yeah, just need to check with the insurance.

According to Black Circles, all those are available in 225/40/19 and 255/35/19.
Thanks, not sure how I missed that! Better get some ordered.

EDIT: Nope, almost all runflats frown

I've gone through at least 15 sets of Michelin PSS in the last few years and they've always impressed me.

Got a good deal on a set of PS4S, fingers crossed they're as good as Michelin say they are.

Just a quick update - the PS4S are on the car and both ride and noise are much improved.
Dry grip seems better (though i haven't really pushed on yet), it hasn't rained yet but i'm fairly certain that'll be better, and fuel consumption seems unaffected.
So far, so good.

What constitutes an "OEM tyre"?
I suspect that would allude to star marked, but i would imagine it would depend on your relationship with your BMW dealer or how much of a jobsworth you were dealing with...

The PS4S i went for either meet or exceed the requirements for speed rating and load rating and are in the correct OEM tyre sizes, and aren't exactly a chinese ditch finder spec tyre biggrin

After a bit of digging, it appears 235/40/19s would fit the front (only 1% difference in rolling radius) - this opens up a lot more choice, including the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S.
I've got the PS4S in the OEM 225/40R19 size - they're very good, soooo much better than the RFTs.
