M3 E46 or E46

Thinking of buying one of these as prices seem to be on the rise with both cars around the same price at the moment.
Ive had a E36 years ago but not a E46.

Witch do people think is going to rise the sharpness in price?
The E46 seems a lot more car for the money but the E36 is maybe a better car?

Thoughts ?

I expect the E46 would be better as its the later model, But which do you think is going to be the most sort after in the next few years.
My way of thinking is if you can afford a E30 M3 whats the best next thing?
