...at home, only to find the next morning the boot of your car has been open all night?

Not me, you understand, but 'someone else' who drives the car has now done this twice. Luckily it wasn't raining and I didn't find a family of foxes camped in there, but I can't find a way to stop it from easily happening or alerting me the doors/boot aren't locked.

Can the keyfob be programmed so it needs two presses to open the boot, or something similar? It's an F30 if that helps.

Luckily, I've got CCTV trained on the car so I can look back at the recording and find when it was done to prove to the OH it's her wink

This time she was actually in the back of the car getting a bag out, so I presume she had the keys in her hand and pressed it by mistake, but then she locked the car and came into the house without even realising the boot was wide open! All caught on camera biggrin

I still got shouted at, apparently for 'preaching' to her that she should take more care with the keyfob rolleyes

Must admit though, I do often accidentally press the rear glass release on our other 3-series touring, so I'm not completely innocent but at least that doesn't open up all the way.

So there's no custom keyfob programming tool available?

I've done this twice, once with a neighbour helpfully coming round to tell me the boot was wide open and it was starting to rain.

I have since purchased one of those key covers from eBay which I personally dislike, but I haven't accidentally opened the boot since!
idea

That would have made a perfect birthday present for the other half biggrin

Except her birthday was 2 days ago frown

I could take the keyfob apart and disable it myself, but it is useful to have the ability to open it remotely sometimes so I'd rather not.

It just needs to be programmed to take 2 quick presses to work.

If that's really not possible, I might take one apart anyway and see if I can put something in there so it needs more effort to make contact. My 'told you so face' is being used way too often blah
