I’ve just ordered my first brand new car. It’s a BMW 330i M Sport Shadow Edition, Touring in Mineral Grey.

19” M sport Alloys
M Sport starring Weal
M Sport Brakes
M Sport bodywork

I’ve got 11 whole weeks to wait for delivery, feels like 11 years!

My options list is massive:
Panoramic Roof
Comfort Access
Professional Media Package
Advanced Parking Package
Folding Mirrors
HUD
Surround View
Black Dokota Leather with blue M spot stitching
Apple CarPlay
Digital Cockpit
Interior Comfort Package
Harmon SoundSytem
Steering wheel heating
Heated seats
Adaptive LED Headlights

The ability to design your perfect car is incredible, I’m beside muse with excitement. I can’t wait to see it in all its grey and black glory!!

I’m upgrading from the first car I bought after passing my test in 2015, a 2009 1.6 Audi A3 sport back, I think it’s going to be quite an upgrade!!!

What’s the first thing to do when you get a new car?

I’d liked to get it mapped/chipped, any recommendations or do’s n don’ts?

I’m also considering getting the alloys filled black to match the car, thoughts?

Here’s a render of what it will look like:

Ah ok, thanks for the tip!

I got 35% off, but a very kind family member is a BMW salesmen.

I’d never get that type of discount on the G31 and I’m certainly not waiting for them to come out either. By the time I’ve grown board of this, the G31’s would have come down in price, but I’m hoping to move up to a 5 series by then

Are there any options for imrpving performance without warranty issues?

I went for a top of the line 330i instead of a basic 340i, I don’t know if I’ll miss the power difference, but it would be good to have some options if I do...

I live in inner London, I wouldn’t utilise the extra power enough to justify removing the comfort options selected.

Ok so remapping is off the table, thanks for the BMW power upgrade tip. I am getting ahead of myself as it’s 2.5 x more powerful than my current car.

Maintenance is going to be a priority.

yes, Surround View is the Birds eye view of the car, but I believe it also includes the cameras in the front wheel arches to give you a 'fish eye view' when you're at junctions with limited visibility.

if they can steal the car easily without comfort access, why remove it from the options?

I'll take a look at the disklock, but there are plenty seriously more appealing cars on my road I think they'd prefer to nick instead of a 3 series.

Well done and congrats on the new car!
I'm going from a 320i to a M140i and the bump up in power is brilliant!
Enjoy the new car smile
I've heard a couple of people talk about making that transition, do you not miss the space? Although, I'm sure the entertainment factor makes up for any practicality issues!

As well as a disklok get a tracker and an immobilizer such as Autowatch Ghost.

Maybe a ceramic coating to make sure it stays looking fresh?
Is ceramic coating something people recommend, if so any particular products or companies you'd recommend? I have a quick search and it sounds like a great product, but does it actually work and if so for how long?

I think it's worth it. I think longevity of it depends on the products used but if you look for detailers local to you they should be able to do it for you.

I had my car done last year, it's easier to wash, stays cleaner for longer, bird st etc doesn't etch the paint etc. Had the wheels done too and the brake dust just flies off with a jet wash. Its a 1 series Shadow Edition with diamond cut wheels so want them to stay mint for as long as possible.
Noted and much appreciated.

What about tracking devices? Is it expensive to have them wired in? Having to remember to recharge them on a regular basis seems a bit of a faff.

Does having one reduce your insurance noticeably?

And finally, are the simcard enabled versions any good?

Thanks in advance

Yes, but the daily mail do have a rather disturbing history of being alarmist on almost every topic, ever.

With buggies, car seats, bikes etc practicality wins over risk for me.

I’ve purchased GAP insurance and I’m going to live my full life ; )

My spanking new 330i touring M sport Shadow Edition (that’s a mouthful) should be arriving in the next week or so. I said goodbye to my Audi A3 Sportback today, so I’m currently car less frown But RIDICULOUSLY exciting!!!

I’m in the dreaded “it’ll be here in the next couple of weeks” stage (a couple of times already).

Apparently is just left the factory in Germany. Anyone know how long it’s take to ship them over?

After 3 looooong months, I’m finally picking up my 330i Touring M Sport Shadow Edition on Wednesday!

It’s been an agonising wait, with a few hiccups along the way. Firstly, it doesn’t have the blue m sport stitching in the upholstery I wanted and secondly, I sold my car 6 weeks ago, having been informed mine was almost ready, only to find out later it wasn’t even in the country yet...

After a lot of complaining, I was given a 220i to see me over, so credit where credits due.

Either way, I can’t wait to finally get my hands on her and take her for a spin. I’m away from Friday, so I’ll only have a day to play and then I’ll have to say goodbye frown
