Had the M140i for a few days now
Discussion
Purchased brand new. Got to about 100miles on the odometer now.
The Estoril blue looks much much better in person. The hue changes depending on whether its cloudy or sunny. The light grey orbit alloys also set the car off better than the jet black ones IMHO.
Need to call the dealership as they forgot to give me a service book it seems.
Coming from a E46 M3, RS4 and a Z4M from prior ownership the car feels much more suited as a daily. The adaptive suspension soaks up the bumps.
It's not completely soulless thanks to the fantastic engine.
Does seem to attract attention. Most of it unwanted at times. Lot of the younger 'bredrins' innit crew always seems to try and have a cursory glance.
The fact it's my wife's daily makes me worry that she might find herself in a hairy situation like some boy racers get themselves into.
Noticed the rear seat belts are still a fking pain the arse for buckling kids in and out of. So I have ordered a seatbelt holder which slips over the clip surrounds so it does not recess.
Great car, should have bought one earlier. Do miss the space of the discovery sport so the 125i will be sold to make way for a pre dpf freelander 2.

am looking at one later today hopefully, thanks for the info
I thought they'd be a little more inconspicuous
From the front. Yeah pretty much. I thought they'd be a little more inconspicuous
Park it front end into a space, the badge gives it away obviously. Those in the 'know' will recognise it.
Also when you press the start button, the exhaust burble noise is a dead give away.
Mines obviously new, but I do think I wish I bought one used so I could fettle with it. Coding, exhaust, slight tune. Few adjustments regards suspension maybe?
There is some serious potential in modding one of these I think.

Any pics OP?
RE the de-badging comments - SURELY these cretinous car thieves have enough sense to take one look at the exhausts and realise its a performance model?!?
Brother in law runs a car dealership ans states as much.He has mentioned a ghost immobilizer.RE the de-badging comments - SURELY these cretinous car thieves have enough sense to take one look at the exhausts and realise its a performance model?!?
Then again, these dirtbags tend to take keys by force nowadays. So unsure whether its worth it

I was in the local BMW dealer last week with my mother as she picked up her new Mini Cooper, and was eyeing up the deals on an M140 - so, so tempting, as it would be a perfect replacement for my 125i Coupe. Sadly I play golf a lot so normally have a boot full of clubs and trolleys, so had to walk away as the boot was far too small.
I'm hoping there are similar deals on the 4 GC later in the year as it comes up for replacement. If not, I'll find a nice 435i/440i.
Bit gutted though, as I love the M140i. I'm guessing it's like my 125i but turned up to 11.

I'm terms of comparison. There is none.... Took it for a spin last night and its just gollops of power on tap.
Very very different to my E46 M3 obviously. I feel I could lose my licence far easier in this car than the M3
