Hello,

My extended warranty is due to run out at the end of the month (30th June). I negotiated 2 yrs when i purchased the car from BMW Used approved (64 plate X6). I have received a quote from BMW insurance services to extend the warranty however I am also planning to sell the car.

So my questions...would having a 12 month warranty (drive line only) in place make the car more appealing to buyers and will the cost of it (approx £1,000) add sufficient value to justify the spend?

Any advice gratefully received

Thanks for the responses.

I will probably take the monthly option to cover me while I still have it.

I will go for the full comp version so at least it is an option for any new buyer that wants to maintain it. I am assuming that once I start the monthly payments it is transferrable to the new owner but will ring them tomorrow to confirm everything.

98k, I have a small window to purchase a warranty before it is no longer an option from them

Just spoke to BMW Warranty. The monthly pay option is 'transferable' in the sense that the new owner has 10days from when I cancel to take up the policy, at the same price I had it, as long as it remains below 100k at the time of change. It will be treated as if the policy is continous

After 10days it becomes a lapsed policy so they would likely have to get a requote at a higher price

When I originally purchased it approved used I got 2yrs warranty. It was the final thing I asked for once we had agreed a price to 'seal the deal'. In real terms it is basically a £2.5k+ additional discount.
