Picked up a new motor (118i '56) for the Mrs yesterday and got a full valet done late yesterday afternoon. After the valet, the car will not register that I have the seat belt on and consequently you now get an annoying 'bong' for a minute or so after setting off and the warning light stays on the dash. It's still the same this morning.

Obviously there's a fair amount of water/liquid involved in a full valet (seats, carpets, headlining and plastics) - would I be right in thinking that it's caused a short somewhere and should fix itself when properly dry or does it need further investigation and resetting? Or maybe a squirt of the good old WD40 into the seat belt receiver thingy?

May find the wires under the seat have been knocked with the hoover try disconnecting the multi plug & reconnecting, make sure you do this with the ignition off as otherwise it will bring the airbag light on smile
Thanks mate - I hadn't though of that. I'll give that a try tonight.

Try disconnecting the battery but I fear once the airbag light has been triggered then only a dealer (or someone with a laptop) can reset it..
It's not the airbag light, only the seat belt one. If disconnecting and reconnecting the plug under the seat doesn't work, I'll try the battery off trick. Cheers.
