Been bikeless since last August, when I sold a nearly new Versys. I'd only had it 3 months, prior to that a KTM 950sm for over a year and before that a Street Triple R. Riding for 11 years with a variety of other machines, both fast and slow.

Was at the NEC last year when I first saw one of these and they look so much fun! Anyway, a local one has popped up near me for under £1800, year old 1500 miles. Is it worth a punt? Prices look pretty stable at the minute. Should I just forget buying a tiny little monkey replacement and get something decent instead? I was thinking that I could put it in the back of my VW T5 camper and take off on it in search of some local roads!

I was looking at all sorts last night, that particularly caught my eye. Other idea is another KTM, probably a 640 lc4 but thatll rule the Grom out if I go looking for one of those.

Worrying that no one has tried to put me off the idea, its tempting me to go and have a look at it. Shouldnt I just buy a proper bike???

Personally I think it would make a great little bike however, I'm not sure I could live with just one of those in the garage. I would need something with a proper engine for ride outs too.

We had a daughter born 3 months ago, so wife questioned why id buy another this year. I probably won't have many opportunities for big rides like I used to have, so getting a smaller bike for big adventures (read under 2 hours) is the general aim. Added bonus is that these things look to have a niche value about them, so if I bought used, it would be unlikely that I'd lose much in value (if any) provided I dont do big mileage, in a years time

Had a very brief look at it this evening, clean-ish, but that stock can looks awful. Got a big L plate on it too!

It was getting dark so I might go over again at the weekend, its very local so no great shakes. Just thinking that once the novelty wears a bit, I might get bored?

Haven't ruled it out though. Whats the tax on these things for a year?

Well after thinking rationally about it, im not so sure whether or not ill get it. I wanted something cheap, relatively low maintenance but fun for a couple of hours on some of the rough roads around here. Im not ruling it out just yet, but im also looking at a XT660x as I didnt realise they could be had so cheaply.
