My local police force have taken to using a tractor to hide a speed camera in!
Aaaargh I'm nearly lost for words! This is parked up on a local biker route in open countryside!
Talk about sneaky!

This was today.

In other news 9/11 was carried out by the CIA, Elvis is alive and working in the chippy near me and the moon landings were fake.

Or you can stop believing everything that you read on Facebook. It's total BS
Wind yer neck in!
I know a lot of the posters on that Facebook post, it's real. The police have leased the tractor. They are also using a horse box. There are several marked cars parked further up the road where the camera operator radios to pull over the punters they have caught. Its close to where I ride.
Only needs signs on the particular road to be operated by civilian staff, police can use it anywhere as a special operation.

At what point did I claim to exactly what was covered in look north?
Read my post again, I said I missed it but the subject is being covered on tomorrow nights programme.
If it's a wind up then it's fooled me and a lot of people I know!
As for my posting count vs time on PH, wtf has that got to do with anything?!

Tell you what. Come back when you can be a bit more civil. I'm looking forward to your photoshopped efforts, I'm sure they'll be as good as the 175mph on the back straight at Cadwell.
GoonR1, why don't you watch the YouTube vid so you can see which bit I photoshopped from wink

Let's say for one minute it's true. What purpose can it serve, other than to alienate the locals? It won't stop speeding, it won't deter speeding and it's a complete waste of money in leasing a very expensive piece of agricultural equipment at a time when budgets are very stretched. In fact, if it is true then I'm happy to front a campaign around misuse of police assets when they seem reluctant to investigate the theft of that sort of equipment from farms.

I just can not see it being true. That's not to say they won't spend a fortune on speed enforcement, just not hiding it in a tractor.
Please don't back track just yet Goon! laugh

No backtracking from me, I put forward a theoretical comment and ended it with "I just can not see this being true". I could advance the ad hominem approach with a binary comment, but I'll leave that to you with your tedious goon comments.
Ha Ha! aah Goon you really have brightened up my day!
Where do I start? from calling me a bullstter, Photoshopper, dreamer, calling out for custard, suggesting I'm a school kid etc etc you have come across as a grade A bellend laugh
You'd fit right in on our ride outs/track days! You can be an honary member smile
The Goon tag stays, you've earned it!

Ps
Think there are few people looking forward to you squaring their speeding fines away wink

I said nice garage, although I'll admit to being a bit dubious of it. I'll stand corrected on that.

I 100% stand by the fact that the tractor photos are bullst. I don't couldn't care less how many people claim their mate got done by it, or whatever. For example, I got flashed on the M25 yesterday. It was awesome, as I was inverted at the time.

Somebody needs to find some proof that this tractor exists. Nobody has shown any proof at all. There is nothing from any of the dozens of credible media sources and a Google search for "hide speed camera hundpberside" shows this thread amd the phot form Facebook amd nothing else.

If it's true, then I'll pay your mates speeding ticket. In fact if ten people provide incontrovertible proof of it, then I'll pay for them too. Incontrovertible proof is not "much mate got a speeding ticket yesterday from it"
That could be expensive.

Hope you enjoyed the humble pie Goon, I really enjoyed this thread! Thanks smile
Definitely worthy of a PH legendary thread entry biggrin
Shame you had to eat such a big piece of it eh? Maybe worth thinking about reining in a bit of the feeble keyboard warrior insults in future so you don't end up looking such a plonker! Just my 2p wink

here are plenty of studies out there if you look. There's even one which looks at the holy grail for speed advocates; the Autobahn. They found the places where the roads were restricted resulted in fewer casualties.
Care to comment on the negative PR this has created?
Apart from the perception of targeting motorists to milk them for every penny possible It's definitely not winning any hearts and minds. Surely visible deterrent is the best PR and has more associated benefits then hiding tractors behind trees no?
