fking hell. Yeah it's London by the way so there is approx 3.14 tealeaves per square inch

I've had this since the 11th May so a grand total of ten days. One reason I've had to buy a fking scooter is cos I've split up with my wife so am now living in a flat. Yeah life doesn't get much fkING better, hey.

I therefore needed something relatively maintainence free, and not that nickable ie no Zx10r. Plus need to occasionally take my quite young daughter on it so had to be scooter not a bike as she isn't keen. So I settled on Tmax as best option given my circumstances.

As mentioned in my other animal pissing on my bike thread, I lock it in an alley overnight so I can lock it to some heavy railings with an almax:

But during the day when I'm out and about I just leave it in the road with a disklock. It's an extremely busy road. To be honest it's not really practical to lock it with almax to railings when I'm in and out its too awkward. I got back earlier, was in for about an hour, then went to go back out. Some fking has tried to nick it. The mudguard is smashed. And when I tried to ride it I find they've actually bent the disk so it's not rideable. It's bent so severely I can't use the front brake even if I pump the lever to push the pistons back out. Only saving grace is at least they didn't drop it on its side.

fking fking s

I'm going to buy one of those trackers too.

I stopped drinking more than a year ago but this gave me a sudden craving for a big glass of wine.

£110 for the disc and about £90 for new mudguard. So stil a waste of 200 quid from my point of view. Both backorder as well, so pure luck I haven't sold my old scooter so can still use it to get to work otherwise I'd be fked.

I've ordered a disc lock reminder so the turnips notice it and don't ruin it again (thanks for offer anyway iang84)

Well, there is a further update to this tale.

My brake disc arrived and I fitted it last Sunday. Since then I've been locking it to street furniture every night with an almax series iv and a squire ss65sc. Last night, someone tried to steal it. I am in north west London.

At least we have proof now of what scrotes like to use - it is indeed battery powered angle grinders. Since the original incident with the disc lock buggering up the brake disc, I bought a yellow stretchy thing because I assume they hadn't noticed the disc lock. But last night despite that being on display, which they can't have failed to notice, they attacked the chain anyway. The disc lock was not touched. I therefore wonder whether or not they had a van since how would they have got it away even if they got the chain off?

Why they gave up I don't know - I think either they were disturbed, or perhaps the grinder battery ran out. They were within a hairs-width of completing the task. The shackle fell in two when I touched it, although they would need both cuts all the way through to get the chain out as each side of the shackle is held in place with a squire so one cut is not enough.

Where I parked:

What they did to the lock. I think the marks on the chain are simply where the disc was rubbing while they were trying to cut the lock. I don't know why they didn't go through the chain, perhaps the case hardening makes it harder than the padlock? Don't know.

Hard to see what else I can do. I am living in a flat (separated from wife) so there is literally nowhere safe to park. It's not like it's a 10-grand Ducati ffs, it's a 5-grand scooter.

Also that's £220 damage to brake disc and mudguard; plus now £100-odd quid on a fking lock. That's over 300 quid down the stter in a matter of weeks

Thanks everyone and Steve at pragmasis I will send you an email in a few days to see if you would be able to replace the shackle in the lock? I am also a previous customer of yours and fitted a ground anchor at my house:

Not sure what I will do at the moment, keep looking for somewhere more suitable to lock it up but can't find anywhere round here.

Ok so I'm pissed off with not being able to use my scooter. At the moment it's locked up safe at my wife's house which is pointless, and I'm back on th old stter of my Aprilia. I thought, what if I go back to using the alley, but as well as locking wheel to the heavy railings with the 19mm almax, also buying & using a 16mm chain through the rack (see gaps between rack and body) to go round railings too. Intention being the raised chain will be very difficult to cut as its not on the ground.

Plus it would also mean two chains / locks to cut through, hence even more difficult/time consuming.

Rack area. There is reasonable space between body and rack. Of course, it would be possible to cut right through rack too, it's probably aluminium not steel.

The railing area. They really are thick and heavy so would not be easy to defeat. The reason I stopped using the alley (seriously) is because of that fking animal that kept pissing on the wheel. It would be a major pain in the arse but I could put a cover on every night too.

To be honest I probably could park it parallel to lock front and rear. Or I was thinking another 19mm through back wheel and up over seat? (ie not connecting to the fence. Only have the existing one connecting wheel to fence).

Well FYI if anyone's interested, I bought a pragmasis chain + lock (plus a replacement lock for the one they damaged) so 300 quid later I can now lock the front & rear of my bike to railings in the alley. I don't mind doing this as I take some satisfaction from locking it up so scrotes cant get it.

The only remaining problem was the animal pissing on it (see other thread). So I started to use a bike cover too - obviously it helps the bike look more unobtrusive, but the main benefit was going to be to stop the animal.

However!

the animal is still doing it, even with the cover. It got a little bit squirted under the back of the cover, and this morning had taken a big fking leak at the front even though the wheel was not really visible. To be honest it's really depressing me and I'm not sure what to do, where else I can park. It's not nice cos some went on the cover, and I have to carry that back to my gaff to leave during the day. And I have to wash the wheels off again; it's really disgusting. There's also loads of drunks hanging around in the alley at night which is unpleasant (see beer can on wall. What the fk is it with drunkards, always propping their empty cans and bottles on walls etc. Use a fking bin you vile people).

If I go back to locking to a lampost at only one end somewhere, then the risk goes high again (although the cover would help a bit more now I suppose). Or I could use both chains round the back wheel so it'd really be a determined effort for them to cut through both.

Yes but I have a disc lock on the front and some had splashed on. So then I have to wash my hands after, it's just not very nice having to touch it! One time some had gone on the almax chain cover and again it's just not nice having to handle it if it's had spray on it. Remember I have to do it envy day so it's bloody annoying!

I will leave the bike on th side stand tonight as that should mean th over reaches to the floor, so I'll see if that works (previously have always had it on main stand)

Well this morning someone had also chucked a Pepsi can on it (the cover) which has led to the remnants of the can leaking down the cover. I've had to bring the cover into my shower to spray / wipe it down as it was all sticky!

People in alleys are just fking scum, end of. I hate to get all brexit but nearly all of the drunkards I've seen up till now have been polish who look virtually homeless / dirty / clearly not working.

I'm probably going to go back to using lampposts but with two chains and my cover. The difficulty with lampposts is round here it's all cpz so no guarantee of getting the same one each time as it depends on what cars have parked during the day. moving house is not really possible,

Yeah my brother's had a Ducati monster nicked from roadside (put on open-backed tipper type truck), and also a zx10r which was chained in central London to a post - they cut through the chain. Middle of the working day and it went.

In the next thrilling episode of my life....someone has damaged my scooter!

Jeez. Some muppet has (presumably) pulled into, or backed up into, the side of my scooter while parked last night, or Friday night. I notice a panel not fitting properly, and when I looked further, saw the damage. It has cracked the side pod like an eggshell, and marked up the akrapovic exhaust - those swirly marks weren't there before. Also small nick in the aluminium handle just above. Luckily the exhaust doesn't seem to be bent, although the hanger is a bit. They must have actually whacked it quite hard to be honest, not just a slight squeeze. The thick cover I have over the bike protected it a bit I think, but was sort of shredded where it had got crushed between the vehicle and my scooter.

So, another £105 quid on a new panel (I have to say luckily Yamaha bodywork seems to be priced quite reasonably IMO). God knows how they did it cos I park pointing down the road a bit, at an angle as shown. This actually makes the particular area they've hit very hard to reach - it seems like they would have had to go up on the pavement a bit. But we all know how st some drivers are at car control.

Well my Easter present was such. It would seem that since they can't nick now nick the bike, other actions will occur. Nice eh.

What I noticed as I approached. So top box trashed:

Notice anything missing?

to do this they simply lay the bike on it's side, as who cares about plastics if they're not yours

also nicked the sports screen I had paid for and even the muffs, what a bunch of cheapskates

luckliy I hadn't bothered replacing the front mudguard from when they last tried to nick it or that would have been broken again, as they tipped the bike off the main stand I had left it on:

my long lost exhaust:

sports screen:

they nicked the entire thing including the front pipes:

Yeah I've got a standard pipe on the way, and still have the original screen. I am planning to put it back together with new plastics and sell it. Not sure whether to get a cheap crappy scooter that has no nickable bits on it, or a different motorbike.

I could have my dad's cbr600rr below which I figure will be less nickable to these numpties, as most of them probably can't change gear, but on the other hand don't want to see that get knackered too.

Back on the road with an original silencer that is undesirable to thieves. Fortunately I don't think they look too bad compared with some modern efforts. Got my new Michelin Pilot 4s to try out now.
