Anyone running these yet? - http://www.motorcyclenews.com/product-reviews/tyre...

Launch reviews seem to be positive but always good to hear from real world usage.

I've gone from the M7RR's to Pirelli Diablo Rosso 3's to the RS's in the space of 18 months...

The M7's were very good on the blade but slowed the steering a touch, didn't give me good mileage and were the only tyre that let go on me a couple of times including a nasty moment at Donington last year. TBF to the tyres the previous two sets were spot on... so it may have been suspension issues or stty surface...

Regardless it affected my confidence a little so I thought would try the Pirelli DR3's which were absolutely brilliant on the blade but always liking to try new st for the sake of it I thought I'd give the RS's a go... the cheap £49 track day deal made it a no brainer! biggrin

Initial impressions are pretty good but very quick steering on the blade and do take a little longer to warm up than the Pirelli's I had before (I've had the back move a little when cold) ... no issues at all in the wet either despite very little tread grooves!

IMHO all of them are better than we are ... but at the moment my favourite is the Pirelli DR3's. They suit the blade and my riding.
That's a good comparison, I've had DRC's, Supercorsa's & Racetec RR's on the 1198. The Racetec's (K3) have been the best so far (good mileage, lovely when cranked over) but tempted by a bit more longevity and larger operating window.
I had Power Pure's on my old S1K, which I liked and then Power 3's which felt horrible, no confidence once cranked over. Don't want to have a few thousand miles of that again!

Going to get a set fitted next week, bought the Power track day at Brands GP and figured even if they are cack, I get to enjoy Brands GP . I'll report back after a weekend's riding

My experience has been on a 1198s -

Michelin PR4's - took them off, felt leaden, so no idea of mileage.
Pirelli SC SP's - 1800miles of loveliness on and off track.
Pirelli DRC's - 2800 of just less than lovely in the warm and tracktime.
Metzeler Racetec RR K3 - Fave so far, 2500 of Nurburgring, riding Europe, bits of winter.

Personally I loved both the SC's and K3's on track, felt super planted when cranked over and found the tipping in natural.

Both feel a little wooden if the ambient is less than 10degrees and then K3's definitely hold up better to any motorway mileage than the SC's.
The K3's are the first tyre that the shoulders have worn before the center, which does include a trip to the 'Ring with a lot of upright mileage getting there.

Just a general question - you don't seem to have tried any tyres between a full on sports touring tyre and a full on trackday tyre?
Any reason why not - folks on here rave about M7RRs which unless I'm mistaken are more of a road oriented sports tyre.

Most out of character tyres I've had prefitted to a bike I've bought were now replaced Bridgestone 020 touring on the R6 I bought 2nd hand - they had been fully scrubbed in with a track day prior to me purchasing them wink
The Pirelli DRC's fall into the road oriented sports tyre that you specify. Additionally on my previous S1KRR, I tried Michelin PP3's and Power Pure's.
Power Pure's wore out pretty quickly and I didn't get on at all with the PP3's.
I've ridden the M7RR's on a K1300's so not a fair judgement.

I started the thread originally as I want the unicorn tyre (mileage as a touring tire with grip, feedback, profile of a track orientated tyre) and wanted to see if others had found the Power RS to be that tyre.

Update:

Had a set fitted by FWR on Friday then spent a long weekend of riding in Wales which encompassed motorway, fast A & B roads, Evo Triangle and a range of temperatures from 10 degrees to 23ish.

Overall I'm impressed, they took every situation in their stride and gave good feedback, nice natural turn-in and warmed up quickly. I obviously wasn't "pushing the envelope" but found that they had plenty of grip when pressing on a bit, even in colder temperatures.

They feel a world apart from the older generation Michelin's (Pilot Power 3's and Power Pure's) I've tried. I feel that they offer similar performance to DRC's but with better behaviour in cooler temps. No idea on longevity yet.

I'll update again once I've tried them on track.

I should probably update how I got on with these at the track after the Michelin day at Brands Hatch GP.

They held up well for a road-biased tyre and were good fun. I'd say their strength is under braking, gives tons of confidence whilst there weakness is outright grip compared to the track biased tyres. No surprises really.
I enjoyed them until upping the pace a bit where I found they started to slide a far bit underpower. I'm not a good enough rider to be comfortable with that, so it did knock my confidence in them.
I gradually dropped the pressures throughout the day ending at 22psi in the rear but still suffered with overheating.

Here are how they looked by the end of the day

A good tyre that's restored my faith in Michelin but I'll be putting Racetec K3's back on next time as I prefer a tyre with better edge grip

I was down at 22psi in the rear, so perhaps waiting longer for more heat to spread throughout the carcass. Tyre warmers for a road-biased tyre feels like overkill.
The edges had an easy time as they didn't give me much confidence, so I kept the bike more upright than usual.

Good overall range of performance though, worked well at 10c in Wales and were good for a 30c trackday.
