Seeing as there's a few of us here that have a dabble with racing (most of you more successfully than me), and both MTB and McKeen recently got their race licenses, I thought it was about time we had a thread for it for race reports and pics
I'll start out with listing what i have coming up this year
July 15th - Oulton Park - NoLimits Racing Club 1000's
July 29th - Donnington Park - NoLimits Racing 1000km Endurance

Who are you racing with at the 1000km Donny event!??
I think Graham (Hebegebe) and Tony (Fleegle) are on that one. I tried to get a couple of fast pals insterested but one is too busy and the other is away working.

Myself and two friends : Richard Hayne and Matthias motzek
We're similar paced there, so not looking for any silverware, but hope to have fun and be consistent
I may have a wildcard 4th member on the team that can do 1:31's around there, but not sure he'll be able to do 950 of the 1000km's and the rest of us just getting our podium speaches ready

Just got back from a Euro trip to Brno. Really got my mojo back on the bike and was talking to someone who runs a team in the endurance series about being their wildcard spare rider for the 1000kms at Donny.
Nothing's decided yet, but I'm going to hit the gym so I'm ready if I get called up. Although it sounds like a relatively experienced team in terms of mechanics and pit support, it's not the quickest bunch of riders on the grid but I expect them to get a solid middle of the pack result and it sounds like it could be a laugh with so many PHBB riders in the race. I'll let you guys know if it gets confirmed.
Good lad. It'll be mint if you get along to that tooNothing's decided yet, but I'm going to hit the gym so I'm ready if I get called up. It should be a fun day, and I'm still trying to work out how we can get a hot tub in our garage

I'm all packed and ready to go for the coming Test Day at Oulton on Friday and racing on Saturday. Quite giddy about this, as I've never done a sprint race before, so the standing start could be interesting. I'm in Newcomers1000 running number 5 if anyone is coming down.
Myself and George are their Friday/Saturday tooI'll message up tomorrow/Friday which garage we're in

I'll be down after work Thurs, about 7ish I guess ... Newcomer1000 number 6 on Sat...
Looks like we are combined with the slower of the Club1000 riders for the test day Fri so should be good fun as was the last test at Anglesey - really smooth chilled efficient tracktime , can't wait
It'll be good to get out on track with you tomorrowLooks like we are combined with the slower of the Club1000 riders for the test day Fri so should be good fun as was the last test at Anglesey - really smooth chilled efficient tracktime , can't wait
I'm only there for the test day until around 1pm as my 16yr old Son has his Prom tomorrow night, so I've got a 3-4hour drive down the motorway in the afternoon, just to drive back up again late Friday night
Saturday morning awareness might be a challenge
great to see you guys there, and I was gutted not to be able to get back up for the racing Saturday
I heard it was raining Saturday morning, which made it even worse as I always go much better in the rain.
Anyway, family had to come first, although I found that a hard pill to swallow Friday night
See you all at Donington in two weeks time and well done for some great results yesterday

Morning all,
Just a quick question, which I think I already know the answer to, but thought I'd ask anyway-
Want to go racing next year. Got my eye on a particular series within Bemsee. If I can obtain my ACU licence through, say, NoLimits (£130), I should be able to join Bemsee club and enter races?
Just I had seen Bemsee's 'race school' which sort of takes you from nothing, to racing with them over a weekend. Which is cool, but it's only in February.
That's right. You can do the ACU through No limits, who I suspect will try and get you to join NLR, but then head off and join Bemsee or as many other clubs as you likeJust a quick question, which I think I already know the answer to, but thought I'd ask anyway-

Standing about for 5 hours to do 5 Laps was incredibly depressing and trying.
Stood with guys asking you why your doing your licence when you've been racing already. Eh was my response.
Well your knee sliders are all fked.
That sounds ste. The ACU test itself is a piece of cake though. When I did mine, there was a lady on a road plated aprilia 125 that literally had never ridden anything other than a moped.Stood with guys asking you why your doing your licence when you've been racing already. Eh was my response.

The ACU instructors had to to teach her how to pull away and change gear in the carpark before she got out on track, and she still passed so now has a race license.
She may go on to be the next Jenny Tinmouth, but who knows

Nice one binreckon you'll buy an interim bike within a week
Tempted to, been offered a mint 675R for not much but then I don't know if I can be arsed with the hassle of selling it on in a few months. Will just wait and get the S1000 then get it out to Spain at the end of the year! There's a big group of us going, and you're welcome to tag along with us if you like

A bit later I did actually see a girl refused a licence based on the fact that she would be dangerous as she was so slow. She was doing Brands Indy in the 1:50's towards the end of the day. Bemsee gave her dispensation to attend test days under instruction with a view to resitting her test the following year
She was lovely though, and by her own admission, she was only doing the ACU to be able to do trackdays as she didn't have a road license.
Although now she has her license, she could go and line up on the grid in the club 1000 class

This lady was properly slow. The test was at Combe, and I'd guess she was doing circa 4mins per lap

Garage list is out for the 1000km endurance event at Donny with NL.
Graeme4130 is in garage 32 in his '113 events' team, sharing a garage with FWR team.
Gavia, Fleegle and Hebegebe are in garage 6 with team 'Lucking Fast'
I've joined a team called 'Legends' and are based in garage 17.
We've got a masseur coming along from the events company, so if any of you need a rub and tug, garage 32 is where it's at Graeme4130 is in garage 32 in his '113 events' team, sharing a garage with FWR team.

I'll make sure he moisturised his hands for you boys
That's kinda our logic.
Our team are reasonably evenly paced, and we can all do low 1:40's at a push, so if we try and keep around the 1:45 mark, we should be good for 40min stints each
At least, that's how we'll start off and I suspect we'll be ending the race doing 2 laps and coming in
8ish hours is a long time between 3 riders, so as long as keep we keep our enegery levels up and properly hydrated, we should be Ok-ish for the long term, and it's going to be keeping that consistency towards the end of the race that'll pay dividends when the other teams are all battered and struggling to get on their bikes at all.
Luckily the toilets are down by the high numbers on the garages, so at least we're semi close in garage 32 as I expect I'll need at least 2 number two's and possibly 10 number 1's during the race

So they've put the oldest s competing the furthest away from the toilets?? fking madness
There's going to be a few people disappointed by contanimated fuel in their jerry cans
Do not worry old boy .... ignorance is bliss......what the uninitiated here are forgetting is that there is a little hidden gem ,"select " almost facility in the little alleyway up between garages four and five if I remember correctly....There's going to be a few people disappointed by contanimated fuel in their jerry cans
Fear Not.
They'll have tea and coffee up there too
