"Sources close to Honda suggest this will be the end of the line for the Louth-based squad and Martin, with no plans at present to continue the relationship into 2018." (MCN: Roads: Guy Martin out of Ulster Grand Prix)

Well, that did not take too long...

I'm pleased that he's calling it a day. The TT can now become the TT again rather than another Guy Martin show. I can't warm to the fellow myself, but I think he has made a good decision and allows him to continue being the Ferrari/Aston driving truck mechanic rather than another statistic
Was it ever Guy Martin show?
He had charisma that other riders lack (still, I cannot understand half of what the chap says), but TT was never about GM only.

Yes and no...

To the serious/lifelong TT fans it was and always will be the TT

But

There were a number of fans that only watched the TT because of Guy Martin and it became to an extent the Guy Martin show if that makes sense?
So, what you are saying is die-hard TT fans will watch it with or without GM (or anyone else for that matter) while GM attracted different crowd to TT and made the TT more known and more popular?
Well, hats off to GM then!
