Jeans/trousers for summer

Similar question to the recent post regarding jackets. Looking for recommended jeans or trousers that are good in summer and offer reasonable protection too. At the moment I have knox jeans which I quite like but still get quite warm. Maybe I'm not riding fast enough!
Better/cooler alternative?
