So you all made me buy an S1000RR. :-)

I’d like something to keep along side it for more relaxed use. Steady rides on warm days etc. Something that isn’t a sports bike and gives a totally different ride. Cruisers, classics, trail bikes... loads of possibilities I guess. Anyone got a good answer for an ideal two bike garage?

Hmmmm.... I’m liking the idea of something very different / other end of spectrum.

I like Ducati Monsters etc, but I owned one before and tended to use it still as a sporty bike. I think I want something either relaxing or so slow there’s no point having thoughts of going fast on it.

Like the idea of something 70s / 80s, like the idea of the Royal Enfields, and maybe older trail bikes etc.... Going to be tricky finding examples to try out.

Back in the 90’s, I actually learned on a CB125TDC, and then rode a CB250N for about 6 months before buying an FZR1000 (which lasted exactly one month).... They do fit the slow requirement a treat.

I’ll admit and extra pound or two but that’s a little harsh.

Have seen a 1200XL that I like in a strange way.

I now have a pretty long shortlist.... The problem is I like everything suggested.

I keep watching reviews of the RE Himalayan, I'm browsing ebay for 80s Japanese bikes, I'm tempted by modern retro Triumphs and Ducatis, I like the idea of a big lazy tourer, and I fancy a trail bike.... Easy

Hopefully the Gixer is sold this week and then I'll just go and impulse buy something.

I have a problem.... The GSXR has gone to a lucky new owner (it was a fabulous bike).... So now I’ve got to get something bought.

I’m starting to settle on a dual sport / off roader...

Or a triumph T100

Or a cruiser.

ETA, I love the spitfire, it’s more than I wanted to spend.... hmmm

So I didn’t end up going for the “relaxing” approach. But it is very different to the Beemer so it gives me something very different......

Cheers chaps,

It’s terrifying, and not because of power. Its bonkers having so much suspension travel. And the knobbly tyres make lots of sense on the dirt, and zero sense on tarmac.

It’s a 350 four stroke. A mate assured me it would have the handling / weight of a 2 fiddy, and enough grunt to keep me laughing when i’ve got more off road experience.

Plan for the autum / winter is to take it out when the roads are too stty for the BMW.... and finally learn to wheelie properly instead of my rubbish 1 foot high efforts (it’s never too late right?)
