2020 has potential for being quite exciting rider movement wise. So far the only confirmed seat in 2021 is Maverick Vinales sticking with Monster Yamaha which has just been announced today so the rest of the seats are all up for grabs! Silly season ahoy.

Interesting to see what Vinales deal means for Rossi as (bar him being a one season wonder..) you can't imagine Yamaha will want Quartararo slipping through their fingers and into the hands of Ducati or Honda.

I'll update the line ups as and when announced.

REPSOL HONDA
1. Marc Marquez
2. Pol Espargaro

MONSTER YAMAHA
1. Maverick Vinales
2. Fabio Quartararo

DUCATI CORSE

2. Jack Miller

SUZUKI

2. Joan Mir

RED BULL KTM
1. Miguel Oliveira
2. Brad Binder

APRILIA GRESINI
1. Aleix Espargaro
2.

TECH 3 KTM
1. Danilo Petrucci
2. Iker Lecouna

PRAMAC DUCATI
1. Johan Zarco
2. Jorge Martin

PETRONAS SEPANG YAMAHA
1. Valentino Rossi
2. Franco Morbidelli

LCR HONDA

Indeed, along with an announcement from Yamaha that should he wish to stay on the grid in 2021 either with Petronas or under the VR46 banner they will provide him a full factory bike, engineering support and contract, win / win for all as the old boy decides if he can still mix it at the level he wants .... if he does stop racing he will ambassador the sh** out fo the brand whilst building his post career legacy ... mans a machine and his next chapter awaits writing ...
Nice gesture from Yamaha.

Cops a lot of unjustified flack in my opinion. The relationship with Honda is obviously very good, He's probably being paid very handsomely and is winning world championships so has no reason to switch (as much as I'd like to see it..)

Rossi only switched to other manufacturers when the relationships with Honda and Yamaha soured.

What's going to be interesting is what Ducati plan to do 2021 onwards.

Honda have Marquez Yamaha seemed to of groomed vinalez and quatarraro just who do Ducati look at signing for the future.
It almost looks like they've been caught napping a bit but apparently they chased Vinales, Quartararo, Rins and Mir over the winter, Massively irking Dovizioso in the process who is now already talking about not staying with them beyond 2020.

I guess you'd have to place Miller and Zarco as favorites for the factory seats right now but a lot can happen in the space of twelve months when it comes to Zarco. .

Jack Miller has signed for the factory Ducati team for 2021 and Petrucci's manager has said that it is him that is being dropped. He also said that he is talking to Aprillia and that a world superbike seat at Aruba Ducati is also a possibility.

What about toprak from wsbk ?

He gave rea a good flight then end of last year .
Seems inevitable he'll end up in MOTOGP doesn't it? Seriously talented.
Interestingly his agent said recently that they had a MOTOGP offer for 2020 from a good team but they opted to stay and try and win the superbike championship first.

God , it seems like so long since we've had anything moto gp related to talk about .
Crazy isn't it? Last post in this thread before today was in February.

Hopefully we'll see some racing at the end of July. KTM are actually testing today at the Red Bull ring which is really encouraging.

Hope you've all stayed safe and sane through these crazy few months guys!

Interesting switch.

Probably won’t do Alex Marquez too much harm as he’ll still be HRC contracted but a bit of a shame he hasn’t had the chance to prove himself at the Repsol team yet.

Pol Espargaro joining Marc Marquez at Honda for 2021, Alex Marquez will be farmed out to LCR Honda replacing Nakagami or Crutchlow.

That must have been an interesting phonecall to Marc......
Him and Alex probably already knew when Alex signed that this would happen. Pol was probably HRC's target for 2020 all along but couldn't get him away from KTM until '21 so made the deal with Alex to move to Repsol and then ultimately onto LCR on an HRC contract for '21 replacing Crutchlow or Nakagami who were both under contract for 2020.

Happy for Pol if it happens though. He's served his dues at KTM.

Yeah you never know until it's official. There is a lot of traction to it though.
Autosport are reporting that Pol has announced that he won't be with KTM for '21 but I haven't seen or heard that from anywhere else.

KTM and Aprilia currently in a fight to sign Petrucci for 2021.
No word at all on Cal Crutchlow so seems likely he will be frozen out if A Marquez makes his expected move to LCR.

All the teams will be keen to have contracts in place in the next few weeks so we might well have the 2021 grid sorted out before the 2020 season even starts. Madness.

That would suggest that Dovi has signed on again for Ducati Corse. There's no way you'd go for Petrucci over Dovi as a proven development rider and race winner - which bar one glorious day Petrucci isn't. Noticeable his season fell away when Dovi stopped holding his hand after Mugello. Aprilia in particular having resigned A. Espagaro they could take a punt on someone like Toprak from WSBK. If I was KTM I'd be speaking to Crutchlow before Petrucci given his years of experience on the Honda given the relative inexperience of the rest of their team.
Yes KTM seem to be giving all the news away before it's actually broken and they appear to have given up chasing Dovi.

Maybe Cal's constant retirement/not actually enjoying riding anymore talk is putting Aprilia and KTM off. I like Cal and the fact that he's open about these things but looking at it from an employers perspective wouldn't give much optimism commitment wise.

Going back to Pol at Repsol Honda just briefly, I'm a bit surprised to hear so many people saying it won't happen because Marc won't like it.
It was less than a year ago that we started hearing crazy rumours about Lorenzo ending up at HRC and people were saying exactly the same thing then.
