As a Harley Davidson rider, I believe its my divine duty to provide a musical note that all pedestrians and others can stop, look and listen to.....

Personally, mine would wake the dead..... just the way it should be. My worst nightmare would be an electric bike

Ok guys, first thing first, that YouTube Video was brilliant, I put the link on FaceBook, thank you.

I'm on other Harley Davidson Forums and the people with straight through exhaust pipes is mostly everyone, some are silenced. You do need to know that a lot of bikes come out of the Franchise Dealership with a loud exhaust.

I also drive like a 90yo, and I don't race anywhere, I live in a densely populated City and about 2kms from a CentralPoliceStation, must see 10 Police cars a day, I think the secret to driving past them is keep it slow, low RPM, keep it legal.

Pretty much everyone leaves me alone. Contrary to popular believe HD's are not all slow, if anyone knows about them, the AirCooled ones are like CanalBarges, the Liquid cooled ones have 140bhp ish, I have a fast one, but I drive slow.

I also have a tiny number plate, Police are regularly sat behind me in traffic, tiny number plate, loud exhaust, and its not as though I just picked the bike up, I've been driving for years, not pulled over yet.

But to be fair, I'm older and pretty damn considerate (except for the noise) in the Country I came across a herd of cows being moved in the road, instantly turned the engine off and waited, farmer was smiling and thanked me, Horses? Silence the engine, the Horse riders smile and thank me. Children on bicycles, give them huge space, don't scare them, wait in traffic and I don't filter (bike a bit too big anyway).

Being in a City we are packed with scooter delivery bikes and they filter like mad, I'm sat in front of Police and I'm never bothered. Wear proper kit, Comms systems, people know you're a more serious rider than some 17yo on a scooter constantly driving at max rpm.

I've never had a problem .... had a couple of cars try to take me, but with 0-60 in 3.5 seconds!!! But keeping slow, I find is the best way of not being pulled over ..... although I do have to play the stereo comms system loud to hear

As the for the guy with the Ducati .... nice, looking at one myself

Nice Muscle there too.

To be fair I do roll the bike to the end of my Cul-de-sac, so that the initial, "blast", is on the main road and not near my immediate neighbours, just the rest of the street (who I don't live next to)

On a Good note, we have a huge set of gates at the back of the house, just incase of a Zombie invasion ....

..... and the wife can hear me from the main road, so by the time I'm up the Cul-de-sac, the gate are open for me, wickedly good. That would never happen if I was as quiet as can be.

As for my exhaust being responsible for changing Government Policy ..... couldn't give a toss ..... the Government is going to do what they want, when they want, and there is nothing anyone can do about it, so don't try.

You think I like Electric Bikes and cars .... ahhhh .... it won't save the planet, but someone is gong too make a lot of money out of it, so it's happening whether we like it or not.

I'm old enough to watch (1973) (as a kid) as people were made to wear helmets, I've watched as the test for bikes has become harder and harder, how bikes have been slowed down, how speed limits have been vastly restricted, we used to have unrestricted speed limits, then they brought in the 70mph, which for Modern Bikes and Cars, now days is stupidly slow. I remember my father being pulled over for drink driving and the policeman asking if mum could drive us all home instead .... don't think that would happen now.

Whats going to happen is going to happen ...... so I don't care what anyone thinks

I'm just going to keep on announcing my arrival everywhere I go. Neighbours won't say anything, they are too busy smoking weed, I don't care what they smoke, do what they want. The other side drives an Electric car (yes you read that right) and is too busy furloughed sunbathing, and having been eating for the last 3 months he can't get out of his chair to complain.

So my biggest problem ..... is grounding out the exhaust

So, until then .... its business as usual, posing on a Harley ......

if I had a micropenis I would try and keep a low profile.
Informing the entire world by trying to make up for it with a ear bleeding exhaust just seems counter productive.
How did you know ...... ?

Anyway, loving you guys, loving the comments, loving the positive, and the negative ..... well there are always this that love electric bikes or eBikes, do any of you guys have eBikes? ..... anyway I diversify ......

If you don't like my bike, you'll hate my cars ..... all with straight through exhausts, except the BMW, which is .... well .... a BMW

Personally I blame the Red Squirrels

If it were not for the RedSquirrels we wouldn't be in this position ......

OK we know the OP is a bit if a self centered prick.
Thanks guys, TBH, I've been called so much worse .... and as for a pissing contest, I am very aware how little they are worth and that some peoples watches are more valuable than my total net worth. Its not a money pissing contest, it not even a noise pissing contest, its a nothing pissing contest
I think it is to do with the Brand, you get 3 loud thunderous Japanese bikes go past, "fast and furious", everyone rolls their eyes, I, "tick", past a car and the young children (boys obviously) are glued to the window, many comments on what a lovely bike, (I can't hear st because I have music playing in my ears).

I spent a great deal of time customising the bike .....

I even matched my helmet to the same black as the bike .....

We spent a week trying to get the subtly of the badging correct .....

What I'm trying to say is, the sound of the engine/exhaust goes hand in hand with the type of bike and I believe that people have far more patience with the HOG making a noise than a buzzing 125 flat out everywhere it goes.

You call me names such a self centred prick ..... in the old days I used to get up tight and respond, many many years of forum writing later and I laugh at it and, no longer is it a personal insult, comments now runs off my back and I laugh....and, believe you me, I know some people that make what I have, look like a Matchbox collection, one guy I know flies his helicopter to go see his car collection and takes his personal detailer with him ...... its certainly not about that ..... its about using what you have.

I've gone sideways on the Icelakes of Norway ...

I put my parents on the Glacier Express Tour and raced the Train from St Moritz to Zermatt ...

This photo is taken in Switzerland, but the background is are the Italian Alps ....

Don't even start talking about the times I took the car skiing (after converting the car{s} to carry skis on a Towbar)

Now its the Bikes turn ...... I'd like to take the old girl through the Swiss Alps, I did read about the Austrian Tyrol on another thread, so I am aware of the noise issue.

So its not a pissing contest about who got the biggest, most expensive, "whatever', its about actually using the machinery we own to go out and actually create memories ... I just happen to have a bit of a loud one that the forum here, does seem more split than I initially considered they would be .....

I still blame the red Squirrels for driving too fast ......

I live in an industrial city, you wouldn't want to come here for a holiday, large council estates, loads of vans, buses, lorries, its hardly the rolling green fields of West Sussex. Our Mayor introduced a 20mph limit in most of the city, so you have to be constantly, "on the ball", with speed, as it changes everywhere (my dad had a speeding ticket for 24 in a 20 and had to go on a course)

What's this got to do with loud exhausts?

I think that loud exhausts are totally acceptable, at the right time in the right place, far far more antisocial is speed. Previously mentioned above is 50-60 in a 30, I think he's right ..... as stated I drive like a 90yo, everyone leaves me alone.

I don't rev the bike in my garden at any time, last night about 22:00 I lowered my little Makita Builders Radio in the garden because I didn't want to disturb anyone. I regularly ride past, "sitting", Police at 20 in a 20, they got nothing to do other than look at what's passing, never been stopped. I bet if I went past at 50, there would be blue flashing lights ....

Speed is far more antisocial than noise .....
