Having tired springs that won't hold the bonnet up, I found out from the US they are a warranty replacement so off I trot to the local Chrylser dealership (not the one where the car came from) they confirm and tell me 5 days delivery from Europe and they will phone when they are in......

3 weeks pass and I haven't heard from them, so I ring and find out the springs have been sitting on the shelf for 2 weeks. They won't let me fit them myself as they are a 'warranty item' so I make an appointment for 3 weeks later when they can install them on Saturday morning while I watch.

Then today (cars was due in Sat) I get a call, they can't fit them at the dealership and the viper will have to go to a body shop, another wait.

I explained its only a matter of removing about 12 bolts and the airbox, nothing to hard, they stick firm and say it can't be done at the dealership, and I ask again if I can take them away and fit them myself. This time 'thats a great idea' is the response.

So if they can't change a few bolts what chance have they got of ever servicing the viper, never mind a recall job ???? ZERO, back to Kent from now on... I hope they got the right parts in ! will find out tomorrow

might drop the 999 recall on them tomorrow just for a laugh, though no fear of actually taking it there

springs luckily were the right ones, took 30 minutes to install start to finish (with a beer in the middle), 10 bolts in all plus the removal of the air box. The hood now stays up, and will even stay in position when left about half way up
