I need some help, I am after a NOMAD ! A quick search on here brings up one that’s in my price bracket and another that’s clipping £100K, which is apparently rare.

I’m not doubting the scarcity of the higher prices vehicle however, the thing that attracts me to these particular vehicles is the stripped back simplicity of it. So the one that’s lower priced. I looked a few months ago and it had sold ? Now it’s back up for sale ?

Is this particular vehicle known in these here circles and is this something I could buy and use infrequently for some gentle green lanes and byways and some hard A / B road bashing round the dales and down into Derbyshire ?

Any pointers appreciated.

Thanks for the info, I’ve done the rounds. I’m due to visit the factory shortly.

So far I’ve gleaned the following as already highlighted above, EVERYTHING is extra ! A bit like the scene from carry on camping where they’re paying for persons, bikes, coolers, pots pans and everything costs
😝
As for hand brakes….. it appears I need X2 !
Used prices are hovering around £55k for a well specced car NA, with charger about £63k.
A charger fitted at the factory is about £6k + VAT ! So buying with or without is irrelevant at this point as I can always have one fitted and with the well specced cars being SC ready, brakes, short final drive, oil cooler, clutch, flywheel, ally rad etc all there is to do is Bob on the charger.

I’m stuck between buying a used one for new money or putting my name down for a new one and getting the gen2 variant by the time it emerges, 28 months waiting list !
The allocation for the initial batch of Gen.2 cars has already gone so those with their names in the pot already will be getting the new variant ! Some will no doubt get the old car but the lucky bugger who gets the first new one will be a fortunate customer.
I’ve driven both, sideways ……. And the mone SC car is no slouch, the SC car is on a different level.
Personally I don’t think it requires a charger but if the options there it would be rude not to if it were only for the sound alone.

I think as the new one emerges there’s gonna be a lot of gen.1 cars coming to market.
And one thing I know for sure….. I can’t wait the best part of 3 years for the car to materialise so it’s back to the drawing board for me.

There's a new one coming? What do we know about it?
Not a lot, production of the Gen1 will cease, there’ll be a gap and then the .2 will emerge.

Speaking to a few owners over the past week who don’t really know much either have said that panel gaps wil be addressed and that the new one will emerge and be Turbo’d ? And have fatter tubes. Which is basically what’s happened to the Atom ?
So…… Not much ?

I’ve never been absolutely sure what a Ariel Nomad is for. Are they basically a road car/track day car with off road styling? They look cool though.
after only driving 2 over relatively short distances I can honestly say I think they’re for other road users and pedestrians to smile at, point at, wave at, give the thumbs up to and generally bring petrol station forecourts to a stand still ?

I can imagine owning one will be fun, kind of how imagined owning a Porsche might be but the reality never quite matched my childhood perception?

I can imagine leaving the house to go for a drive is an admin nightmare ! And in the UK with our changeable weather should bring the outdoors in ? A bit like driving an old 1920’s car on the London to Brighton, dressing appropriately but knowing that you can see the road beside you and can see the wheels bouncing up and down and the suspension moving.
That looks like a great idea while it’s all going well but when it goes wrong I bet seeing everything laid bare is a bit of an eye opener.

I’ve not been put off, if anything the raw nature and mechanical origins of this little car is attracting me all the more !
It looks and feels like a challenge and I know now I can’t wait almost 3 years for a new one.
Watch this space !

Search complete…..

I bought one, it’s Stormcloud123’s old car.

A well specced car from the outset and still in fine fettle to day.
