I have just fitted a set of cleaned and matched Vectra injectors to my 4.6 chim.

Chimpofdarkness/tonic/frollic has these already fitted to his 4.0 but runs a MA chip iirc.

The vectra flow 250 cubic thingies as opposed to the Lucas 200.

I am running the standard Lucas jobby with an adjustable regulator that was increased to run the Vectra units.

I had every reason to believe that this may not be compatable with the Lucas system but thought I would give it a whirl before going MS.

First graph is running standard Lucas injectors.

2nd graph running Vectra injectors.

Torque starts sooner and is a much "fatter" curve as well as improved.

Power is slightly up, rises without a slight dip and moves peak power further up the rev range.

Yes, I am sure MS or similar will give a little gain and no doubt a bit of economy as well.

As to driving, very smooth, absolutely no shunting or hesitation and pulls smoothly up to 7K!

Flooring the throttle in 5th at 90 gives instant pickup and sees 140 in what seems like a few seconds, (on my special test track).

Vectra fueling.

Not perfect but good enough for now.

Going by the vague method of switching on the ignition and taking a reading of the pressure before the pump cuts, the pressure with the Lucas injectors was about 40 lbs and now is running an indicated 45 lbs.

Just an update.

I wasn't entirely happy with my tweaking of the regulator and the fuel mixture, especially as I am doing a T/D in a couple of weeks time.

I took the car to Austec Racing, just 20 minutes from me first thing this morning.

I was proved right as the fueling was on the weak side.

After a discussion with Ashley who does the R/R and tweaking there, he adjusted the regulator and then the AFM to give the best results with the 14CUX.

He states that the Lucas injectors are maxed out at my engines state of tune and the Vectra ones are good for about 350BHP.

The final result was 336 BHP and 367 torques a figure that in his words would be improved again once I go MS!

It was a pleasure to be at Austecs and be guided by people who know their business thumbup.

Real sorry to hear that Derek.

Hopefully no more then a piston or 2!

At least you have a bit of time, not much of a consolation I know!

I have a good set of 4.6 pistons if necessary.

Crappy pics of Saturdays run at Austecs with the regulator tweaked by them.

Fueling far from perfect but car runs smooth as a hamsters tummy!

Megasquirt ordered smilewill install late summer!

White lines are deleted previous runs.
