Received my new loom and upgraded MEgaSquirt ECU yesterday.

Tomorrow, if all goes to plan, I'll be wiring, fiddling, rearranging and generally having fun under the bonnet.

Since collecting this car it's been driven to the top of the road and back again so I know the wheels turn biggrin

Hopefully at some point this weekend I'll have it on the road again.

In the last few weeks I've,

Cleaned up the chassis
Renewed the lower swivels
Changed the brake fluid
Fitted braided lines
Fitted JE alternator bracket
Fitted a spare set of rocker covers
Cleaned up the engine compartment
Fitted a wideband boss
Fitted a tad more exhaust wrap
New ACT hoses
Insulated the intake
New larger K&N filter

No doubt a minor raft of other things.

Roll on the next few days.

And a reminder as to what I'm talking about.

Well, a productive weekend.

Fitted the new loom, relocated the ATS, fitted P38 coil which is supa neat!
Assembled plenum and all the other bolt on bits.
I even had a nice set of new yank leads in stock!

Then changed brake fluid for Racing spec fluid.

A pair of ipad piccies as I can't find my camera lead mad

Just got to connect the fans and battery and she should be good to start!

I have a feeling that the existing map will want tweaking as I'm sure mappers have learnt a few tricks since the MS install 7 years ago, we shall see.

I took piccies of the loom install and will post them up when I find the camera lead, what a donut!

About 8 easy hours to fit the loom, quite enjoyable snapping on those connectors wink

You can do it without removing any of the dash.

The new loom has all new earths so no problems there.

Make sure you bolt them securely to the rear of the nearside head.

Just tried a cautious start.
Battery crap and didn't manage much frown

Hey ho will buy a new one.

At least it has a lightweight hi-torque starter.

How do you get to that area ,It`s impossible. Do you get to it from underneath ? Does it come with all the ends made like the one for the trigger sensor.

If you mean the back of the head Daz? My 95 could be accessed from the top with a ratchet spanner but the 99 has a revised bulkhead so I used about 5 extensions and a swivel head from below and back, a bit of a fiddle!

Just had the car electrically and electronically fettled by Shaun, (MS2Tuning).

Everything checked and the map tweaked.

Bad points,

Ride height low
Dampers set far too hard.
Stupid standard seats are like sitting on a sofa.

Good points,

Super warp drive + sounds like a messerschmitt.............biggrinsmokin makes my 4.6 feel tame, makes the Boxster 2.5 I drove last night seem like a hatchback, (although the build quality is something else!).

Generally,.....................................megahappy smile

Getting used to the RL7s, growing on me slowly..........

Paintwork is in awful condition and needs a day on it. Plenty of time for that during those dark evenings when I can have a fettle in the garage silly

I'll be visiting Surrey Rolling Road in the next week.

I must say a great "thank you" to Simon for today.

He worked tirelessly with me, (the apprentice) to right a few wrongs on the 5.5.

We did:

Changed the diff bushes for Polys.
Renewed all 4 cv gaiters.
Changed the engine oil and filter.
Renewed gearbox oil
". Diff. "
Fitted Leven drop links all round.
Generally fiddled about.

Oh and drank about 8 cups of tea!

Cheers mate smile

Andy, if I hadn't, ( and I should say we) done the bushes on a 2 post lift, used air tools and a proper press, I'd still be there now!

Speak to Simon, I know he'll thank me laugh
