Thermal insulator under trumpets - question

I have just removed the plenum and what look like carbon trumpets to get my fuel rail and injectors off for cleaning and checking.

Under the trumpets is what looks like a thick red rubber gasket and I cannot see any sign of sealant used by the previous owner.

When I bolt back the trumpet base, do I need to seal the joint between this rubber mat and the underside of the trumpet base?

Also, the plenum seemed to have a trace of some kind of sealant between the plenum lip and the top of the trumpet base. Should I smear a thin line of blue Hylomar to the top of the trumpet base before lowering the plenum back on to it?

Was that just on the plenum rim or also on the thermal insulation as well?

Any tips in getting the hylomar onto the plenum without it going everywhere as you try to wrestle with the plenum in trying to get it back on?

I thought to just run a bead around the trumpet base and then lower the plenum onto it once I have successfully got it past the trumpets. Will that work?
