What's the quickest time for the 400s, think I will give it a go so would be good to have something to aim at.
Looks like Simon with a 13.22, which is proper fast. Classic Chim said:
I rue the day I borrowed Derek’s tyres, got the best start I’d had all weekend but failed to raise ride height,,, cos I was lazy and did the slowest terminal speed of my weekend at 108 with tyres rubbing on wheel arches but still did my fastest time.
I got phased instead of keeping to my goal of beating Alex time and decided to quit but the more I look at it the closer I should have been to a 12.4
I did a 12.7 on road tyres with iffy starts!
Bugs me now,,,,, beacuase Derek lending me those tyres I should have maxed that opportunity. Sorry Champ
I have spent the last 2 weekends working in the garage with Santa Pod live on my ipad. I need to get on the strip soon before I go mental!

I promise if you haven't tried it before you will love pushing your car to run its best 1/4 mile time. It becomes addictive and I will be there to support you as best I can.2. Steve_D. A couple quick questions for you Derek, if that's okay? Done a few track days and been to a few hill climbs & sprints but never been drag racing so please excuse the basic questions!
Roughly how many runs do you typically get in one day, assuming the car is all ok?
Is it okay to take passengers (although I know that it won't give me the best time)?
Looking forward to it! :-)
The key is to get there early, sign on and get in the queue ready for the track opening. On a Saturday it usually starts fairly quiet so you could get half a dozen runs in before lunch if it stays dry and there are no oil downs.Roughly how many runs do you typically get in one day, assuming the car is all ok?

You can take passengers, they need to sign a form and pay a fee, I think its only a tenner. The only rule is you cant exceed 130mph terminal. Looking at you Barrie Piper!. I calculated that having a passenger only cost me 1 tenth of a second!

What are peoples plans/itineraries.
Arriving friday or saturday
Staying over friday night and/or saturday night
My plans
Arrive friday evening with volvo n caravan.
Son Chris bringing Chim over.
Check in early saturday
Runs.....
Stay over till Sunday morning.
I had a similar plan involving the TVR on the trailer behind my Tranny but that semi seized its engine on the M6 last weekend! So I am either looking to borrowing/begging/stealing another tow vehicle otherwise I will just drive the TVR down with as much camping kit tools and tyres I can carry.Arriving friday or saturday

HEADS UP
Just spoke to Santa Pod
Q can I arrive friday and camp over
A No
Q If I buy RWYN tocket for sat can I camp over night leave Sunday
A No
RWYB Ticket ends at track closing time.
If you want to stay Saturday night you need ticket that covers both sat and sunday.
Ie RWYB and MINI IN THE PARK
MITP is exclusively just minis on track.
WELL THATS BUGGERED THINGS....
They do allow you in on Friday night. Plenty people arrive not knowing. Worst thing that will happen is you sleep in your caravan at the entrance area.Just spoke to Santa Pod

The MITP tickets are £18 and camping a further £7. But... just pay entry for Saturday RWYB and camp over anyway. Pay on the night if asked.

Hi guys Its been a while,
as I only live down the road and its my 10th year of ownership I think its time to do a few runs.
I managed to just get into the 12`s a few years ago a 12.998.
would be nice to see if the new concrete track is any quicker
Should be there in the Morning and will bring an air compressor and my timing light, easier to do this at the pod as you can make as much noise as you like
Hi Paul, be great to se you there. The pods new surface cant be an excuse unless there is no prep at all. Top fuellers have been running 3.9's at 310 mph already!as I only live down the road and its my 10th year of ownership I think its time to do a few runs.

I'm in a similar boat, currently fitting a different camshaft (custom spec. this time) to improve the driveability below 2000rpm and give a smoother idle. Also trialling some different lifters but it is all a bit last minute for my liking! Currently estimate a 60% chance of completing in time.
Question for Derek or another with previous experience of drag racing TVRs - noticed the regulations state that arm restraints are required for open top cars. What do you guys do about that? Use arm restraints or leave the roof on?
Its so much easier to concentrate with the roof up. I do have a pair of arm restraints you could borrow though.Question for Derek or another with previous experience of drag racing TVRs - noticed the regulations state that arm restraints are required for open top cars. Ive asked regular pod goers about arriving Friday. If they don't want you on site that night there is a field they direct you to park and camp for the night 100 yards away. I am going down Friday whatever so maybe see a few of you for a beer and plan racing tactics
Dare I say the weather forecast worries we had earlier in the week look to have dried up so to speak.
I have a broken van with a seized engine and it looks like my back up vehicle Thunderbird 2 will not be available. So this afternoon I am looking at a Hyundai Terracan to buy in order to getting the TVR down on the trailer. Watch this space.

Sadly it looks like we are not going to make it on Saturday. It runs very smoothly now on the new custom camshaft but somehow we have introduced a problem at high rpm (over 6000rpm) that we have not yet been able to resolve.
So unless it all comes good in the next couple hours, we will have to bail out. I'm really disappointed but I hope you guys have a great time and will try to join you next time.
Fingers crossed you get it sorted. Or why not bring it along anyway. Some datalogging and plenty of petrolheads to talk to may do the trick also.So unless it all comes good in the next couple hours, we will have to bail out. Whatever happens I am sure it will be a good day followed by bbq and a few beers. I hope a few turn out even if it is to watch Barrie take my crown!
Well it seems its all going wrong for me lately.
My transit van seized its engine last week. My back up van Thunderbird 2 is waiting for a fuel pump.
I took the Chim out for a drive and the bvggers getting hot in traffic so a 200+ mile drive in Summer traffic jams isn't worth the risk.
So sorry guys if I am along it will be later and probably not with the Chim.
I will pick another date soon and hopefully we can all make the next one.
Good luck to those there this weekend

I am sorry to hear it was so busy and the fact people had to pay for the mini show event.
Losing Shakey has had a large effect. Hopefully we will get York Raceway back up and running next year. With a new track surface, pits, in road, new toilets etc etc then I hope many will make the effort and drive North. RWYB always get plenty runs in there. Some have over 20 runs in a day.
Well done to Barrie on his 11.06. I am a little surprised he ‘only’ got a 60 foot time of 1.67 on the new track, I suspect it wasn’t fully glued for a RWYB. Both Barrie and myself have run low 1.5’s at York. If the grip is there I expect Barrie to getting dangerously close to my 10.6
