Boot release question

If I hold down the door open button on my 98 (450) chimaera the door pops open, if I keep it pressed down the boot pops open.

This is great but I can not find this feature in any documentation. Do they all do this or is this a fault (good one).

Not the fob button, wing mirror button.

The car was from Fernhurst so this seems to be the source of the feature. And yes it only works when the car is unlocked.
