Got a call from my TVR dealer today, apparently a fuel leak I had in the boot is not due to leaky pipes but a hole in the tank itself.

A new tank is about £300 but they seem to think to have it welded would be about £80, which they will get done.

Is it a common thing to go on these, bearing in mind the car is only just over 5 years old ??

It's o.k I'm not doing it, especially after my lack of welding skills when I was on a Ford apprenticeship.

The instructor said, I'll pass you, but if anyone asks if there is someone that can weld, don't put your hand up.

That was Arc welding though.

Castle TVR are arranging to get this done as the tank is alloy, and there aren't many people around that weld alloy, fewer still that will weld a petrol tank.

They are going to line between the bodywork and the tank to ensure they do not rub.

Hopefully pick it up saturday.
