My odometer is stuck at ?999 miles

Yesterday got to 49999 miles moving into 50K and......
NOTHING!
Seems to be stuck in transition and will not move.

What do i do?

I suppose replacement by dealer is the right move any idea on expense?
Will it affect my service history records?
Is it a common problem?
