Lambda sensor

How can you check if the Lambda sensor is working correctly, and where on the engine does this live is it in the exhaust system, and how much does a new one cost. brian d

Thanks to everyone for the info,m I was not going to try and do any repairs myself, I am am engineer and like to know where and how things work. I am in Aberdeen and there are not many (or any)garages who are able to work on TVR engines. I was using a Porche/Merc/Landrover dealer but they also prove to be inable to carry out any fault finding on TVR's as last year I had a little niggley problem with the smooth running of the engine and they told me to fit a new ECU, I bought it they fitted it and the problem still existed.
